Voice testing, Peeking Around at Games
Let's just really imagine how this will go.
You and me, integrated among heroes with so many powers I can't even predict what delicious wonders I'll see. How long do you think I'll last before I just pin one of them to the wall, cut his head open and take what I want?
Naturally, they'll all turn on me. No one is going to have Peter's abnormal capacity for forgiveness. Oh no, they'll try to kill me. And then I'll kill them. I'll kill them all.
And that just won't be any fun for all the other players now, will it?
So why don't you save yourself some trouble and take my advice.
Stay out of my head.

y hallo thar
hello!
You know that we've always had a lot in common. I even drew a big organized table for you.
:D
I remember. [And she's still unnerved by that whole meeting. Not the violent creeper parts, those are just par for the course with Sylar. But the. Almost. Sort of. Good parts. Those are still freaking her out.]
From what I hear it was a wasted trip, then. Guess I didn't help you after all.
/latches onto
I wouldn't say completely wasted.
I actually went to Parkman after talking to you and ... [ A devious head tilt in both directions. ] ... let's just say I convinced him to try taking away my powers.
[ Abruptly, he jumps up. Walks just a step towards her. ]
Aaaand after some, well, complications, it didn't work. But I'm trying now. I want to be a hero.
[ There's just something about his face — maybe it's his sly smile, or serial killer eyebrows — that makes it uncertain to tell if he really means what he just said. It is Sylar after all.
Then he throws his arms up in the air. ]
I'm just trying to tell my mun here, that putting me in the midst of a feast of powers isn't really going to help me ... well ... stay sober.
/KEEPS
But she's a little surprised, at least, that he apparently actually tried to get it to work. Actually wanted to get rid of his powers. Actually tried to follow through. Does it change anything, though? No, probably not.
Claire raises an eyebrow when he steps closer and crosses her arms, determined to seem as unfazed as possible, and if that fails, to at least make it clear that he doesn't scare her anymore.
Is he actually trying to keep himself away from people for a good reason? Or is this just another one of his tricks?]
So what's the solution then? Tell yourself you're going to try to be a hero as long as you're locked up tight, free from temptations? That's not how it works, and you know it.
[Just what are you getting at Sylar.]
Re: /KEEPS
That just hurts. I thought you'd know me better by now Claire.
Having no temptations means I can't be a hero. There at least has to be someone I could have killed. [ He raises one brow while smiling. ] All I'm suggesting is that if you don't let me ease into it — if you just drop me in the middle of a powers fest — I can't make any promises. Even if I want to do the right thing.
[ The pure hunger that comes with his own power. Only Peter has felt it, understood it. ]
no subject
So hard. Such a hard eye roll. It might hurt if she could feel hurt.
Thanks again Sylar.]So you ease into it. Pat yourself on the back for every person you don't murder. Sounds great.
[W o w.
But, wait. Lightbulb time.]
Didn't you say you don't have to kill anymore? To get powers.
no subject
Go on.
no subject
Why tho.]
So use that. Whatever it is. Then you can still get your- Ugh, delicious powers- [You're gross Sylar. Do you see why Claire and everyone else ever thought you ate the brains.] Without hurting anyone.
[A glance away as she shifts uncomfortably in place.] ...Assuming it's not like the stunt you pulled on me. [Cause that was cruel and unusual. CRUEL AND UNUSUAL.]
no subject
Well, that's a thought.
[ But Claire, you can't go around saying words like delicious and then look all embarrassed. Where's a serial killer's mind supposed to go after that?
He glances, so briefly but so noticeably at her lips. ]
You mean, I can't go around kissing people instead? I'd say it'd be such a great improvement to killing them, don't you think?
[ He's getting close now. Very close. ]
no subject
Okay, no, he's definitely trying to make her uncomfortable. Really, really uncomfortable. And unfortunately, much to her dismay and disgust, it's working.
Claire takes a small step back, trying to keep the nervous look off of her face, mold it back into anger. The anger she wears so well. The anger that always burns extra bright, molded and ready and aimed, just for him.]
I think most people would rather die.
no subject
Well come on now Claire. I thought we agreed I was trying not to kill people.
But if you think they'd rather die. [ He looked at her and shrugged, like he was shrugging off these mystery people's lives. ]
no subject
Still, she knows he's trying to get a rise out of her. So what she's going to do is call him on his bullshit instead. What she hopes is bullshit, anyway.]
Stop it. [She says through gritted teeth, taking a small step forward this time, squaring her shoulders and falling into a confident, solid stance. She glares, biting out the words with venom.]
You're psychotic and impossible, and obviously, a complete waste of my time.
[She'll turn to go. Storm on out. If he lets her or doesn't try and stop her.]
no subject
Don't be so rude Clairebear.
[ Okay so it's been awhile since he's called her that. But she was already so angry, Sylar really couldn't help it.
And he's looking at her like she's meat on a platter, his own eyes glowing with the insanity that fueled him. The real question for Sylar now, well, now that he's broken out his powers for a spin, is what to do next. ]
no subject
Claire feels her body stiffen unnaturally, and she knows she's completely under his control. Yet again. That doesn't stop her from struggling against it, even though she knows he won't let her go until he wants to, she hopes that the struggling at least makes it a tiny bit harder for him. A fraction of discomfort, even, is worth it.
She glares at him, begrudging surprise turning to pure fury as a growl hums in her throat.]
Do you do this every time someone hurts your feelings? [She grimaces lightly, still struggling.] Cause this is becoming a pattern.
no subject
Only to the people I care about. [ Aww yes that means you Claire. ] Everyone else I just kill. [ His eyes light up, like he's just made the most hilarious mistake ever. ] Everyone else, I used to just kill.
So now. What to do? You're still in college aren't you?
[ Sylar closes the gap so quickly, his lips just centimeters away from hers. ]
no subject
wtfSylar and she's at a loss. Her eyes widen and she feels her body wanting to shiver, to recoil away from the intruding warmth of his skin so close to hers. Claire clenches her teeth together, a hardness forming along her jawline as she hesitates but eventually meets his eyes. Eyes that she always imagines as black, empty, soulless. But unfortunately this close she can see that they're not black at all, they're actually brown and not as empty as she'd like them to be, and she wants her illusion back.
Claire closes her eyes and flinches as much as his hold allows.]
Technically.
And you can't kill me anyway. [She pries her eyes open.] Do I get my own category? [The way she can pack so much loathing into so few words is pretty impressive, gotta give her that.]
no subject
Now Claire's lips were right there, free for the taking.
Or just as easily, he could stab her, an eye for an eye. The two of them might never die, but oh how it would hurt. How gloriously it would hurt. ]
Everything is just— [ His free hand grabbed her face, tilting her chin up, but not gracefully. ] —so very easy when you're in my position Claire. Have you ever thought about how easy everything would be if you had my abilities?
[ In all honesty, Sylar was monologuing with no interest in what her actual responses would be. But as he pontificated, his eyes searched hers, looking for the satisfaction he would gain in seeing traces of fear. He certainly saw the loathing.
But after the seconds ticked by, one-by-one, he pushed her back and dropped her from his grasp, letting Claire fall to the floor, tugged on only by the force of gravity. ]
Lucky for you, I've turned over a new leaf. [ His teeth gently bit against his lip as he said the last word, prolonging the ffff just an extra second so that the sentence turned from sounding disingenuous to predatory. Even when he's trying to be good, Sylar sounds bad. ]
You are free to go. [ And with a flick of his finger, Sylar blew the doors wide open. ]
