I don't know all of the details, but Ryou-chan had been with two of our friends at the time. They got separated at one point and someone had cut her arm pretty deeply with a knife. My grandpa took her to the emergency room, but she disappeared not long after going there, only to show up again with six locator cards leading her to Kaiba-kun's blimp where the Battle City finals were to take place. We don't even know how she came to getting six cards so quickly with her arm still in pretty bad shape.

After that, our names were randomized so that we would have the first duel of the Battle City semi-finals. Her Spirit finally revealed himself at the beginning of the duel, battling with me and Mou Hitori no Watashi. Once he realized that he was losing, and we had pulled our God card on him... he... Rishid... it's a long story about him... but he pulled out the Millennium Rod and briefly released Ryou-chan from the Spirit's control, just as we were about to call out our final attack.

Ryou-chan was so weak and in so much pain... [It still hurts her, even now, recalling the events.]
