spock is the best motivational speaker

In my many years serving with Captain Kirk, I have observed little reason to question his approach in such matters. That is to say: when presented with the need to "blend in" with any given civilization, confidence is the key. The Captain believed that the essence of appearing to belong was linked inexorably to the belief in it being so.

Believe in yourself, and the rest will follow. I, myself, have never doubted your ability to speak on my behalf, and although at times your logic has been lacking, and your dedication questionable, in many respects I could not have asked for a better - or a more human - advocate.

Semper Exploro - I am always exploring. There are frontiers in our lives of all kinds. You must rise to explore yours, boldly and without compromise, as per Starfleet mandate. I have faith in you.

Well said, Mr. Spock.

For what it's worth, the one speaks on my behalf has never doubted the ability of yours to speak for you.

[Jim smiles, eyes crinkling.]

Likewise, Spock. It's... been too long.

I was, for a time. Things have been pretty quiet lately, though. You?

We've met. Trelane Senior, pretty much?

And you're... mentoring him? How exactly did that happen?
