Your work can wait a night or so (not that I am much one to talk, as I have been told that my workshop may be a...what did they call it...a firetrap with my projects but we are not talking about me here). [He tries to look stern, like a father scolding a child, but there's laughter in his eyes.] A great deal of past experience. Perhaps I should have put you in the rafters to collect dust for a little bit as well.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to hide away a lovely sounding woman like yourse-

[No one's ever said Leonardo da Vinci was the bravest man in Firenze but at least he didn't scream and run away like some men would have....inspite of the small scream.]

[The Emissary, on the other hand, has seen plenty of weird looking aliens in her life, so a startled reaction isn't that far out of the ordinary. So she cocks her head and smiles wryly, but her body language is deliberately nonthreatening.]

"Diavolo"? That's a new one. What language is that? Sounds a little like Boyosian.

Mi dispiace, madonna. My apologies. I'm afraid your...appearance has taken me by surprise. You seem too kind to be one of the church's messengers come to take me away for my sins so then who, or what, are you? And where are you from? I have never heard of a language called Boyosian but if it is Latin based like Italian then it must not be too far away.

[She grins and waves her hands in the universally recognized gesture for "calm your tits."] Whoa, slow down, dear! Even I can't answer all those at once. [Holding up her index finger:] Tell you what. You ask me one, then I ask you one, and we'll trade off like that, fair and square-ski. Deal?

[His tits are the exact opposite of calm but he does try to control them.]

A most agreeable arrangement. Now tell me, my lady, what is your name? I feel it would be impolite of me to ask anything more in depth without at least knowing that.

I-I thought you would understand, Maestro! How horrendous, now my own master is threatening to put me up for dust collection, and I do nothing but help, and model, and mix paints, and clean brushes! [These are great exaggerations, but shhh.]

If I may ask...where do you come from? I admit that I have seldom traveled beyond Italy but I have never seen anyone like you even coming in from the trading ships on the coast.
