Thaaat's probably because no one in their right mind would want to study these people. [pointed look]

And a doppelganger is a lookalike, with the added bonus of supernatural craziness being involved in the reason for looking alike.

I think I've had enough of the supernatural for more than a lifetime.

Well, it's kind of unavoidable in the sense that the supernatural can be found, quite literally, anywhere you look, provided, of course, that you're properly equipped with either the skills or the sensory talent or the know-how to know how to look--in this case, the word "look" probably being used in a metaphorical sense--since the supernatural is a part of the life force that surrounds all of us, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, although I don't know why anyone would choose not to acknowledge it, of course, unless they were suffering from an extreme case of HIC, that's "Human inferiority complex," which, believe me, is a nasty bit of a business and I speak from firsthand experience.

[She pauses to take a breath.]
