Considering apping to Ruby City
Look.
You've already got the application open, and my name is written at the top of it.
It's been a week and you can't get me out of your head. I think we both know where this is going.
And, if you're looking for a canon point? Start with earlier, you can always open a new tear and come back later.
Besides! Think how much FUN it will be! More cross-canon CR for you and everyone? And I'd really like to get out. Meet people. And everyone was just at the beach!
I've pretty much convinced you, haven't I?

It was a real beach, not just levers and pumps, wasn't it?

That place is not the cheery paradise you seem to have convinced yourself that it is.

Yeah? Well, it's gotta be better than being locked in a tower. I'm pretty sure everything's better than that.

Your power will only make you a target. Power-hungry men will always seek to control you for their own good. Isolation is the only peace you will ever find.

And I don't want to be isolated. I want to see the world, meet people, see Paris!

I, for one, would rather live in peace and isolation rather than be sought after as a weapon.
...And my name is Mewtwo.

Mewtwo. Strange name. I'm Elizabeth.

[...whatever a cat is.]
I am a clone of a Mew, genetically altered to the point that I am no longer genetically related to my species. Mewtwo was simply what my creators assigned to me, and I have no other more fitting name to go by.

[She frowns, looking at him.] You're a creation of science... No wonder- what's a Mew?

[There's a sort of haze that envelopes the area as a vision of a Mew appears for a moment.]
In my world, it is said to be the most powerful and most elusive Pokemon that ever walked the earth. I was created from a genetic sample acquired from a fossilized Mew, and enhanced for the sole purpose of subjugating others.

[She moves towards the haze, walking around it to get a better look at this Mew thing.] And so you're a Pokemon. Just like that... [Sentient animals were not a strange thing to her, not when she had Songbird.] Why would they do that to you?

The difference between our worlds, is that Pokemon outnumber humans, both in number and variety in species.
[The Mew in the fog dissipates as the fog broadens to encompass them, now a multitude of varying shapes, sizes, and colors emerging. Everything from dragons, to massive birds, to dogs and even vaguely human shaped all form in the mist and stand for Elizabeth to inspect for a moment.]
Each Pokemon have powers far beyond that of humans, yet lack the same level of sentience as humans for the most part. They are sentient, each and every one, however they lack certain concepts such as ownership, organization and the like with a few moving past that limitation. Humans have long formed symbiotic relationships with Pokemon, providing food and shelter and training to bring out their full potential. In return Pokemon lend their strength to humans.
[Now shadowy figures of humans appear, some riding larger Pokemon, some working alongside others, and some carrying Pokemon as if they were small children.]
My creators wanted to use me to amass an army, both taken from the wild, as well as severing the bonds between Pokemon and Trainer, forcing Pokemon into slavery.
[The forms shift once more, this time depicting Mewtwo clad in some kind of alien-looking armor holding a herd of Taurus aloft as black-clad thugs hurl pokeballs.]
To them, I was simply a weapon to be wielded, nothing more.

She listens to Mewtwo finish speaking before she turns back to him.] They-- that's horrible! You may not be people, but you deserve the same amount of respect! It's just cruel! And those-- those balls they were throwing?
[She's always eager to learn, to understand.]

Pokeballs. It is how humans catch wild Pokemon. There is an unspoken rule where should a Trainer be able to weaken and catch a Pokemon within such a device, that Trainer is worthy of loyalty.
For some Pokemon, they aspire to find a trainer that can best them and draw out their potential. For others, like myself, we prefer to avoid them, and will avoid contact with the devices at all costs.
Still... there is something about the devices that... changes Pokemon. I'm not sure where the voluntary loyalty ends and the ball's influence begins, but whoever holds the ball a Pokemon is bound to commands that Pokemon's loyalty.

You can't just force someone to respect you. That's not how it works. If-- if you're going to have, for lack of better terms, a pet, you have to love it and treat it well! Otherwise, when it gets the first chance, it's going to bite you, and then you'll be sorry.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? Why would they give a shit? They're hungry beasts, they don't even comprehend tears or have the emotional context required to understand why they're shed.

[The fog shifts once again, showing him standing among a handful of Pokemon with markings, squaring off against their doppelgangers, led by a Mew, with some humans standing behind them.]
For what felt like an eternity we fought, myself and my clones thinking that they were simply slaves to their trainers. However... as we fought, I was able to glean some things from the thoughts of the Pokemon I thought I was being merciful in destroying, only to find they were not fighting for their own survival... but for their humans.
[The fog shifts to show some of the battle.]
They were not ordered to fight, in fact some humans attempted to order them to flee, but they would not listen. However, it was not until one human entered the fray himself - and paid the ultimate price - did I realize the true nature of the relationship he had fostered with his Pokemon...
[Mewtwo's voice fades, a sad twinge entering as the fog shifts once more, showing Ash throwing himself between two beams, and Pikachu weeping over his unmoving form a moment later.]

Then, when it's over, she speaks slowly.] But you-- wiping out an entire species? I'm sorry, Mewtwo, but that's- that's genocide. Even if there are clones. I can't- I can't condone that. It's no worse than what they were doing. On either side!
no subject
I do not like humans as a general rule, but I have vowed to not interfere with their world further... which only makes my potential placement in that city all the more... annoying.
no subject
Not many would do that. [Better?]
So why go?
