[The Commander is sure he's heard one or two people say chimeras are corruptions of nature, and then there are the Pigmasks, who joke about something to do with corrupting people and then laugh awkwardly when they notice him listening and tell him they won't explain until he's older.]

All kinds. Deity, after all. though, currently, I am sealed, so it's not like I can really do anything.

And silly. Not for you--for me. I take the souls of people and, with permission, I extract it in the form of a weapon. It causes no harm unless the weapon breaks, of course, though they, ah... Feel a little empty.

I'm a deity of corruption. Pollution, physical corruption, sexual corruption, whatever. You name it, I love it. So I'm interested in seeing how different worlds are corrupted.

[Well. That's new. Sounds like a PSI ability, but not at all like any manifestation of PSI he's ever heard of. Somebody being able to shape PSI into a weapon, maybe, that'd make sense, but from other people...]

What happens if it breaks?

...why would they feel empty? [He's not entirely certain on the definition of a soul, either. He's got the words, but they don't mean anything to him. Some people think it's the source of PSI, but then they also say everyone has one, and not everyone has PSI.]

To put it frankly, a soul is you. So of course you'd feel empty if I took it out for a little while.

Who gives permission? [Sure, people can die on their own, but...] Someone biological has far more failsafes to keep from dying on their own than a weapon has to keep from breaking. Why would they risk it? [There has to be quite some incentive.]

Ah, it has its ups and downs. I'm ageless, on one hand. On the other, I'm constantly running from Wisteria, my dear sister.

I'm a deity. I can do things humans can't. And, well, a soul weapon doesn't work like a normal weapon. The soul itself determines how brittle it is. I've used some that never even chipped, despite wielding it in battle for many years. I've had some break after one use.

[Which is why he's usually so choosy. He can't afford them breaking--both because it's unfair to who he's borrowing from and because it could get him eaten.]

That still isn't logical. I'm me. I... suppose you could take brain patterns, but then there wouldn't be anything left to feel empty. Or it'd be a copy and there would be no reason to feel empty.

The human is comprised of multiple things: mind, body, heart and soul. By removing only one, the others are left intact and to compensate. Thus the empty feeling. A part of you is missing.

[And then he'll chuckle before sweeping a bow.]

the durability and strength of a weapon is based on their potential to be corrupted or purified. Thus, the greater the potential, the greater the weapon! Of course I can sense it.

[A part makes slightly more sense. He can accept that explanation, even if he's still unsure what a soul would be. A measure of uniqueness, maybe? That's what it sounds like. Though...] A soul is only a human part, or do other biological organisms or chimeras also have it?
