canon ; pacific rim | because y'all need your grumpy englishman.

I suppose this is meant to be a form of flattery.

[ as he leans on his cane and scowls. ]

And what makes you so certain that we are - I believe the term is - drift compatible? [ yeah that's totally the same thing. he rolls the r on 'drift.' ] Is that the intention? Get inside my head? Share my thoughts?

It's funny. Really. It could be of some benefit to you, as I can tell already you don't know the difference between cosines and tangents, at the most basic level - any uses for algorithms or any appreciate for cold, hard data -

[ no. ]

Unfortunately for you, I'm not going to be here to clean up your potential messes.

It seems we are both stuck with mundanes of remedial math skills.

I am not quite sure myself, but I do believe going back is not an option at present.

If nothing else I must be sure Newt does not get herself killed in some foolhardy plan.

Yes the Kaiju fangirl is bound to get herself killed in this nexus of worlds.

[Welcome to rule 63 of the internet Hermann.]

You seem certain that your mun is going to get you in trouble.

[personal profile] halfofhalf 2013-07-21 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He slams that book he's holding shut.]

The probability of your mun sending you anywhere is exceptionally slim. Your universe has just been shown, after all.

Besides, Kaiju are pretty bad. I doubt there's anything your mun can throw at you that's any worse.

[Owen just stares blankly for a moment.]

Thought I'd seen almost everything the Rift had to throw at me, but this is new.

Holy shit. This is a new one.

A true genius can work when being inconvenienced.

[He just went there. Philip totally went there.

Sorry, Hermann, Philip can be a little shit, too.]

I've fought off numerous monsters and still managed to look up data.
doctorweevil: (ugh)

[personal profile] doctorweevil 2013-07-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, god, his double is a nerd, not that he hadn't already guessed that from all the maths talk. This is so embarrassing.]

Right, yeah, but what're the odds of ever actually running into your double?

-that was a rhetorical question, by the way, no need to answer it.
numbers_girl: (Awkward)

[personal profile] numbers_girl 2013-07-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
At least that is the most proper definition of this place I can sort out due to the individuals I have met so far.

[And she always prefers properly defining things. She would be right there with him calculating the odds.]

Well this explains the twinge of familiarity I was feeling. I suppose I should of noticed it as I am not prone to déjà vu.

Herma Gottlieb.

No, I don't. You're not from my world, so I won't be able to perform a lookup on you.

You know, I was actually just thinking to myself, "Hey, I'm having too much fun, I wish Hermann would come along to suck the life out of everything."

(Hi, Hermann. Your best buddy's here and he's filled with enough smarm to make you want to smack him with that cane of yours.)
doctorweevil: (srsly?)

[personal profile] doctorweevil 2013-07-21 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He was mostly worried about getting some mathematically precise answer, to be fair.]

Reckon so, yeah. If you can call it much of a welcome, that is. I mean, I know someone who'd love to meet someone who looks just like him, but he's a bit of a narcissistic bastard. [To put it lightly.] Me, my idea of a decent welcome would run more along the lines of attractive women, plenty of alcohol, that sort of thing.

[...I'm so sorry, Hermann.]

Mun-san brought me here. I can't travel between worlds by myself...

...However, the idea is very compelling...
