Where are you sending me? Surely, no where with dragons, orcs or any other kind of filth? I won't let Kili into any unnecessary danger. The troll incident, do you remember that? [It was still clear in his mind and...God. Poor Bilbo too.]

So, this game....what does it mean for us? Class system? You seek to chose me within a set class? Well, that's easy. I'd be a warrior for sure. I can wield my two blades and I'm quick. Kili surely knows that. [He smirks at that. If only his brother were around now. Would he be at this game?]

That's a point. Is Kili going to be there? Or uncle Thorin? Anyone. I do not fancy being stuck alone in this land with not a friendly face around. It is your wish but I will not be placed willingly. We have a quest to complete and the kingdom is everyone's priority.

Yeah. There is a Kili there. I'm showin' him how my shotgun works right now, actually. He your brother, then?

Kili is there? [That caused him to smile some. At least he would not be alone there.]

Aye, he is. What is a shotgun?

[Both pretty short, too. What is it with all these short men? She hefts her shotgun up to show him.]

This is a shotgun. Like a bow and arrow, only a hell'v a lot better.

[He's a dwarf! Not a short man. The beard is so much better than any man's.]

So, this is your weapon of choice? [He looked at the strange weapon and frowned. To him, a blade or bow would be far superior to anything else. It looked alien to him.]

How does it work? Does it shoot bolts?

[Not everybody has any idea what a dwarf is, Fili. Zoe's from a pretty long way from Middle Earth, after all! So she's just going with "really short guy" until somebody corrects her.]

Naw, shoots bullets. Little metal bits with gunpowder in 'em. Smaller, easier to carry, more powerful force behind 'em than an arrow.

[She was pretty sure he won't know what these are, either. Kili didn't.]

Gunpowder? I have never heard of such a thing before. [He was curious about this now. How did the bolts fly, if not using a string?]

So, no string is used? It uses this gun-powder instead?

Th'gunpowder explodes, propels the bullets out faster than string can.

[She lifts the shotgun again, to indicate it, and offers with a little grin:]

I can show you, if you want.

[He nodded enthusiastically.]

Yes, I'd like that. Show me what it does.

[Zoe looks around for a suitable target that no one will mind her potentially blowing up. Mun drops a nice, normal shooting target, a paper on a thick board, at the far end of the imaginary room.]

There now. Cover your ears, it's gonna be loud.

[It's a warning Kili didn't listen to. She hefts the shotgun, flicks off the safety, takes aim... and BOOM. At this distance, the buckshot makes a nice hole in the target, splintering the wood, but it doesn't come out the other side.]

[He did as he was told, as he covered both his ears. What would happen?

Fili nearly jumped out of his skin, as the shot fired into the target. He wasn't expecting that. He was glad that he did place his hands over his ears, as the bang was loud.]

Was that it?

That was it.

[Smart dwarf. He didn't get completely deafened momentarily like Kili. Zoe spares him a little grin and point with the gun where she'd shot.]

See? Y'don't see any arrows stickin' out, but that target's still pretty dead.

It was loud. [Yep. Definitely loud.]

It's powerful, I'll give you that. But does it have the accuracy that a bow has?

D'pends on what yer shootin'. This's a shotgun, it's pretty accurate at about ten to twenty feet. Further than that, and the shot sprays out, so the hit's less in one spot, so it'll be less accurate but still pretty damaging. This--

[She pulls her revolver from her hip holster, showing it to him before sliding it back away.]

--good for about thirty feet.

[She smiles, thinking about the range on another, better type of gun.]

Good rifle, though, I can give it nine hundred feet, still hit my target, if I got time t'aim right or it ain't movin' too fast. I sacrifice aim for power, with this one, but y'don't have to use what I got.
