Going to towerofanimus! Hopefully?

Hm? Sleep? Sleep now? It is morning! The sun will be up shortly! Go on— it's time for a shower!

[ It's barely 5!! ]

This is why you should have gone to bed earlier. I know you have much on your mind lately, but that is even more reason why you should keep a regular sleeping pattern. Now the new day is about to begin and you'll fall further behind schedule in your plans for the Tower. With new arrivals banned in June, you only have a few more days to write the application. Ayaka will need her Servant next month.

[ He politely chooses not to comment on the fact that Lancer is actually Ayaka's Servant right now, but the lack of acknowledgement probably says enough. Suffice to say, he doesn't have a lot of faith in the other man. ]

You would have been more productive tonight if you hadn't spent your time dancing around your room to music and playing that game with your friends. You're really being troublesome to all of us, you know— to more than just the women and myself. Think of those we are loyal to at least if you won't work harder for us. It isn't fair to your friends. They've been patient enough, haven't they?

[ There's no answer. ]

[ Oh. ]

Fast asleep, huh? That didn't take long.

[ He sighs heavily, but smiles and fetches a blanket. ]

What are we going to do with you?

I wouldn't be so eager to get into that Tower if I were you. From what I've heard, it's not especially pleasant.

Ah, leave the Lass alone. There ain't nothing wrong with having a little fun now and then. You ain't really lived until you slept away the day after a night of partying.

[Lancer drops his chin into his hand, drumming his fingers against one cheek.]

What is it with you Sabers anyway? Ain't met a one yet that doesn't have a stick shoved up where the sun don't shine.

Least...I'm guessing you're a Saber with that attitude. If you ain't...boy you really gotta loosen up!

I'm aware it isn't, which is why I am eager all the more. I swore to serve and protect someone who has been there for months now.

Ah. [He pauses, frowning.] Ayaka?

[Well, though he might not admit it, it isn't as though he wouldn't do the same for those he cares about.]

Good luck, I suppose. I know someone who was roped into going there - she's had nothing nice to say about it.

[ He nods in confirmation. Then a small smirk crosses his lips. ]

From what I hear, you know two someone's there, personally. I assure, the other also has nothing nice to say about the Tower.

You know I am, Lancer.

[ He frowns and any cheerfulness he possessed just moments ago suddenly freezes over into an icy disposition. ]

It's not your concern how I speak to her. You should learn to be at your own masters' heels more.

[ Also, did you get a haircut? ]

Hmm? You know me? I'm pretty sure I would remember meeting an...interesting...guy like you.

[He chuckles as he says 'interesting' and then laughs more loudly as a thought crosses his mind.]

Oh, I get it. You share headspace with a pretty lady I've met before, right? How's she doing?

[Lancer's expression grows more serious as the conversation drifts to his master.]

If you knew me, kid, you would know my master and I didn't get along. Every moment I spent at his heels was a moment too long.

Oh... Yes.

[He hasn't forgotten about Amelia, and would be there for her if he could, though he trusts his counterparts and Amelia's own abilities. He tries to be as nonchalant as he can, as he continues.]

I- uh, I trust she's alright, though?

[ Saber feels a little uncomfortable answering for the woman, but he does so honestly at least all the same. ]

I think she would be better were you there.

[ Considering that nothing Lancer is saying makes any sense to him, Saber has to take a few mental steps backwards to get his bearings again. Clearly, this isn't the Lancer he knows, though they appear to be very similar. ]

That's not what I meant. The Lancer of my world is like you. I think you may even be the same Heroic Spirit.

[Any seriousness that was in Lancer's expression drains away and he again breaks out into laughter.]

Ah...you're a new one, ain't you? Your mun didn't tell you much about this place, did she? Obviously, I'm not your Lancer. I woulda known you if I had been. This place, it connects all kinds of realities so it ain't unusual to meet people you think you know only to find out they live in a world completely different from you.

And cause I'm the best Lancer you're gonna find course your world had a version of me in it. Why would someone want anyone less than the best?

Oh- well. I don't doubt that. I'd be quite capable.

[He clears his throat, arms folded, considering that, before he continues.]

Alice is there to keep her out of any trouble, though. And, uh... another me.

[He certainly doesn't disagree with Saber, though he knows any America can handle themselves well enough.]

[Welp. How do you feel about this? ... Right.]

[ Oh, his poor country... So awkward with so much. Is that his fault too? Possibly.

Saber politely declines from commenting on England's capability to handle the Tower. Most of him doesn't doubt it either, but then this conversation never was about questioning anyone's abilities really. He suspects England understands that, though he doesn't pry for verbal verification of it. ]

The other you has an exceptionally small child to care for. Having been in his situation once, I expect you to realize how little time that gives him for caring for much else.

[ Saber raises an eyebrow as he's laughed at, but he allows Lancer to go on with his spiel until he's clearly finished. Extremely cocky, this one. Well, more so than the version of the man that resides in his world, at least. He'd hate to be trapped in a room with Archer and this Servant. Surely there'd even be little standing room for him between their two egos. ]

Have you asked another Lancer that question? One or two of them may be able to come up with a reason.

[ Ayaka! Saber is suddenly all grins. He's relieved to see his Master, of course. ]

Quite easily. But do you wish mine wasn't?

Well, if you put it like that, the answer's obvious. I am the best. See, most the Lancers 'round here are either some version of me or a version of a man named Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, who is not only a fellow Irish hero but also is pretty biased when it comes to me.

[Lancer leans forward as if he is about to tell Saber a secret, hushed voice and all.]

See, apparently I was his hero. He became a knight because of me. Damned good one too from what I can tell. He was recorded to the Throne of Heroes and everything. I musta done something right to be inspiring heroes, wouldn't you say?

[ Saber continues to look at the Lancer with equal parts bemusement and skepticism, but again, he doesn't interrupt him. ]

Is that true for every one of them or just for the one belonging to your mun?

[ It's not so much that he doubts Cú Chulainn is a hero worth his salt as it is that he feels the need to attempt deflating the man's ego a little. He wants to know the boundaries of it because he's so unfamiliar with it. ]

[Saber, Saber, shouldn't you have learned from your version of Lancer not to try the impossible? Cu Chuliann's ego knows no bounds. Why do you think he and Gilgamesh never got along?]

Nice try, boyo, but ain't just the one that I share headspace with. Apparently all of them feel that way to one degree or another. All the ones I've met anyway. And all the ones my mun's met too. Being raised on such great stories tends to do that to a person.

Suppose there could be one or two of them out there that don't think that much of me. This place attracts all kinds of odd timelines, but that just means I gotta go and prove to 'em why they are wrong. Shouldn't take too much.

[ Not to try the impossible? 'Been there, 'done that, got a spear to the shoulder for his trouble. That's not to say he wasn't successful though; he got his Master out safely. His version of this man was muzzled by his Master, Noble Phantasm and all. He knows the stories of Cú Chulainn from the Throne, but given that fact and Lancer's own habit of toying with his targets, one will have to excuse his skepticism. ]

Surely you wouldn't mind, then, proving to me why I'm wrong. If you keep talking like that, the one I share headspace with won't know you at all.

[ Well, even Saber knows that is not likely to be so, but Lancer doesn't know that. ]

Hey, you share headspace with a Diarmuid too? Aren't you a lucky one! You better be treating him right cause the boy sure doesn't know how to do it himself. Tell your mun she needs to let him out more. I wanna meet him!

[Lancer grins widely at Saber.]

As for the provin' bit, whatcha have in mind? My spear is willing to cross with your blade any day you feel like having your ass handed to you.

[ Saber laughs at all of that. Pfft, Gaels... ]

I am not the Master. I have no control over what she does. If you are so interested in meeting him, you should not wait for her to find it convenient.

[ He summons Excalibur and doesn't bother with Invisible Air this time. It seems a little pointless, after all. ]

I have never before fought Cú Chulainn while he is in possession of his Noble Phantasm. You do have it, don't you?

[The mischievous twinkle in his eyes should really worry Saber.]

So you're saying I should give your mun some kinda incentive to let him out more? Oh...I think I can do that. In the meantime...

[A familiar red spear appears in Lancer's hand and he spins it before angling its point out toward Excalibur's point.]

This answer your question well enough? Though I am curious as to how your Lancer lost his spear. He shoulda died for he let that happen, but you can tell me 'bout that later after I've given you that ass kicking you're asking for.

[ It does, but interestingly because he's protective of all the others in the headspace. It comes with the designation, you see— "King of Knights".

He raises the tip of Excalibur's blade to Lancer's neck, smirking a little in response to the look in the other man's eyes. ]

"In the meantime", indeed. Perhaps after you've proven yourself. As for your other self, the story is short and simple: his Master sealed it away from him.

[Lancer seems extremely unconcerned by Excalibur's blade being so close to his neck. Whether that is because he knows he is fast enough to move before it could cut him or because he really isn't taking Saber seriously is anyone's guess.]

Really? Are you sure that was me? Master or no, I can think of one person who I might let seal my spear, and sure as hell she wasn't anywhere near a war of yours!

Once I'm done with you, I might just have ta find me this 'Cu Chulaiin' and kick his ass for using a name that obviously doesn't belong to him.

[Suddenly, Lancer brings his spear up knocking Excalibur's blade away from his neck. At the same time, he flips himself back away from Saber, falling into a comfortable fighting stance.]

Ready?

[...Perhaaaps. This is his former king, after all.

England gives a stiff nod, clearing his throat.]

Yes. Yes, I do.

[He frowns, imagining America in a place like that, America when he was so young he barely reached England's knee. Were he there too, the stress of looking over that boy alone would probably drive him mad.]

Well. I ah, I wish you luck in that place, in any case. I'm not worried or anything, but you should probably take care of yourself!

[ Well, at least his moves are pretty. Saber feels less skeptical after that particular show of fluid grace.

He takes Excalibur in both hands and charges. ]

[Many different ways to dodge that charge flash across Cu Chulainn's mind in an instant. He could go to either side, go over the top of Saber's head, even just leap backward a few steps. In the end, though, he chooses none of those things.

After all, what fun is dodging?

There is no dodging as he answers Saber's charge with one of his own, spear ready to deflect Excalibur's blade. He doesn't charge in a straight line, though. Instead, he uses his speed to his advantage, shifting back and forth to make it look like he might dodge off to one side or the other, when really it's not his intention in the slightest. It's just a simple distraction technique that would probably have no chance at working at all on someone as skilled as Saber if it weren't for how very fast Cu Chulainn is.

It still probably won't fool him, but if Saber spends even a few seconds pondering what it is Cu Chulainn is going to do, that will give the Lancer the advantage.

And there is so very much a Lancer can do in just a few seconds...]
