...I could remain silent on the matter. I most likely should, considering how much grief he and mine have planned. But. I said I would answer, and I shall. There's not much they can do to a dead woman anyway. [She shrugs and quirks a brow, snorting.]

Ah, the wings. They are...vestigial, and arbitrary save for their connection to your health. Lose one? You are gravely ill. Lose two? You die. They cause a great deal of pain with very little punishment involved. From what else I've come to understand they translate language, spoken, written, etc. For example, the entire time we've been speaking, I've been using French.

I was reminded, vaguely, of a show Billy and the Alphas used to watch. Doctor Who. There was a time-travelling phone booth that made people understand everything.

It was silly then, it was silly now. Wings? Honestly?

An organization surgically grafted them to us upon our arrival. They are so there is no chaos or discord due to our inability to understand one another, at least that is my theory.
