[Ryoji walks up to her with a warm smile. She looks a little younger than most of the people here, so hopefully he can cheer her up with a warm welcome.]

( she greets the stranger with a smile. it appears she's not the only one here! that's great news. shouko opens her notebook and scribbles on it very quickly before holding it up for him to see: )

"Hello!"

(AS YOU SHOULD BE!!! oh, another person! this is wonderful. as fast as she can, she writes in her notebook and shows: )

"Hello there. Do you come here often? I'm new to this place."

[ Yukki blinks awkwardly for a second, before it dawns on him. Oh. She's mute. And... possibly deaf. He looks panicked for a second, realizing he was rude, and... waves? He doesn't know sign language, but waving is pretty universal.

... good thing Yuno isn't here. ]

( happily, she flips another page in her notebook since she used the previous ones already and writes: )

"Hello. My name is Nishimiya Shouko."

because look at her. she's so cute and you want to protect her forever

( so many nice people approaching her so far! smiling right back at him, she writes and shows: )

"Good afternoon! My name is Nishimiya Shouko."

( she's quite used to people not knowing sign language or feeling a little surprised to what they should do under these kind of circumstances. shouko turns the notebook back to herself to write under her "hello" before showing yukki the notebook again: )

"If you don't mind, would you write on here to communicate with me? ^^"

[ He nods, and will accept the notebook if she hands it to him. ]

Hi, my name is Yukiteru.

[ He'll write, before handing it back to her. His handwriting is a little sloppy. He always was bad in school, before... well... a certain Future Diary enabled him to cheat. ]

( yes, his handwriting is sloppy but readable! and under his sentence, she scribbles: )

"It's nice to meet you, Yukiteru. Are you a new 'muse', too?"

[It takes a moment for Ryoji to register what is happening, but shockingly, he handles it well. He doesn't want to make her feel bad or uncomfortable, so he carefully takes the notepad and pen from her and writes his own greeting underneath hers.]

"Nice to meet you, Shouko-chan! My name is Mochizuki Ryoji."

[He then hands it back with a warm grin, though it is just a touch sad. It's hard to see people that he knows must be suffering.]

[ At least she isn't scolding him for it. The only other person he knows of who doesn't is Yuno, but that's because he can do no wrong in her eyes. ]

A few months old now, but compared to some of my mun's other muses, yeah.

( it has its difficulties, yes and she doesn't fault anyone for not feeling comfortable. but she stays optimistic, nevertheless. it takes her a few seconds to read before writing in return: )

"It's nice to meet you, too ^^! I'm one of my mun's newest "muses" and she brought me here to maybe make friends."

"What's it like being a 'muse'?"

[Hm? Can she not speak? Well, he's not about to make a big deal about it; perhaps she's a bit different than the average person, but then so is he.]

It can be good or bad. I get to be with someone I really care about, but the place I'm at is really scary.

[Tohko, carrying a copy of The Little Prince, sees the new girl and smiles at her.]

[He gently takes the pad and pen, and quickly scribbles something down. When he hands it back to her she has a little map with directions to the bathroom. Don't say Gin-san never helped anyone in need!]

[Luke, thirteen, is walking and reading something on a datapad at the same time, mouthing words in some alien language and fully absorbed. Not looking where he is going, uh oh- looks like he's either about to walk into her or step off a drop off.]

"Scary? Oh no! Will you be okay?"

( well, it will be useful in the future. she writes:)

"Thank you! I'll save this page as a reminder."

[ As lame as that sounds, it's true. Yuno is far and beyond a better fighter than he is. He's seen her cut full-grown men at least twice her size in half using only a kitchen knife. ]

( she's not sure what he's saying so she writes next: )

"I'm sorry, I'm deaf. Could you please write to me if it's not too much trouble?"

( curiously, she eyes the book first - pondering to herself just what The Little Prince is about. maybe it's one of those fantasy novels with dragons, castles, wizards, and princesses! oh, she's getting distracted. smiling a little sheepishly, shouko scribbles on her notebook before showing to tohko: )

"Hello. My name is Nishimiya Shouko. May I look at the back of the book you're holding? It looks interesting!"

What? Kid! DON'T HOLD IT IN! Should I write the directions to the hospital too?! Do you want foreign kidneys in your body?! Just go and let it all out!

[unsounded]

( she realizes luke at the last minute and before she could make a sound, bump! they collide and she falls back on her tush. )

...!!

[unsounded]

( she's... not sure what he's going on about? she looks at him, puzzled. but writing again: )

"I'm sorry, I'm deaf. Could you write to me please? I apologize for not writing that sooner!"

[unsounded]

"That's a relief. It's always good to have someone who will protect you and be by your side."

[He takes the pen and starts to write it, but stops after a word or two.]

No! The power of communication can transcend boundaries! A samurai can speak from his heart, through his eyes, and into someone else's eyes then straight to their brain.

[He puts the writing utensils aside, and places his hands on her shoulders. He crouches so he's eye level with her, and STARES.]

(a-ah!?! why is he looking at her so intensely? this is rather awkward. perhaps, he knows sign language? hesitantly, she starts speaking to him with her fingers. )

[He quickly removes his hands.]

Did you just perform a curse?

[ She's right, and he knows her feelings for him are genuine. He could do without the extreme jealousy and possessiveness, but he's long since come to accept, and in some crazy way, even enjoy it. ]

Do you have anyone like that?

No it's not it'll never be okay.

[At least she keeps smiling, though that does remind him of a friend of his that had hardships of his own, yet never voiced them.]

"Well, I'm sure a sweet, cute girl like you isn't going to have any trouble with that! There's a lot of nice people here, so I'm sure you'll have fun."

[He pauses a moment before writing one last thing.]

"Does your mun have any plans for you?"

[Somehow he keeps his feet, lurching in a way that would make a credible dance move if he could repeat and polish and find music for it. Luke looks dazed, and then stricken.]

Aaah! Sorry- I wasn't looking. You okay?

[and hand, awkwardly half-extended so he can pull it back and look like he wasn't offering if it looks like she'll say no.]

[Sadly, The Little Prince did not have any dragons, castles, wizards or princesses. Just one lonely Prince and an Aviator stuck in the desert.

Tohko read Nishimiya's scribbling and, smiling and nodding to the girl, handed over her book. On the front was a tiny planet in the stars with a small boy and a rose on the planet. Since the mundane was being nice today, Tohko pulled a notebook out of her pocket along with a pen and scribbled a response to Nishimiya.]

'Sure, go right on ahead! I think you'll enjoy it. It's a wonderful story. And it's nice to meet you, Nishimiya. I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl.'

[He blinks in surprise for a moment, then gently takes the notebook and pen.]

"It's no trouble. My name is Ghaleon."

"My family."

( she continues to look... puzzled????)

"It's nice to meet you, Ghaleon. Have you been around here long?"
