I believe in it as much as the next guy, but she's on some pretty heavy pain medication and I don't want her to make what she sees as some kind of a mistake.

That's not fair. It's not ethical either. I suggest the next time you have a moment to talk to her you explain that diagnosis is something that a doctor should do.
