Scouting around for possible games for Thorin...

My scribe wishes to send me to far away lands, which I protest to naturally. He cannot understand how interfering with the quest puts me at unease. Why is it that these scribes seek to send us to these far away places? It is beyond me.

He is searching for somewhere to place me. Nay, I do not wish for a land with dragons and other evil creatures. I could not forgive him for that. All I want is to continue on to Erebor and reclaim what is rightfully mine and my kin's.
 
Yet, it seems he will have none of it. Confound these ignorant scribes of late. Time stands still for no one and every ounce he thinks about sending me somewhere, Smaug still sits upon the throne of Erebor.

We shall see.

I know how hard it can be, to be interrupted from your responsibilities like this. But sometimes, being pulled to a new place is the only way to learn something you need to complete your journey.

But, uh, actually? Time does stand still while we're here. When we get back to our homes not even a second will have paused. [Rika sounds a touch condescending but also a bit reassuring.] So you can relax on that front.

I know not. I know he likes games concerning dragons, elves, dangerous creatures. That sort of thing. I will never understand why he likes such things, but he does. [He grumbled slightly about the dragon and elves part.]

Learn? I have all the knowledge I will ever need to learn. Perhaps, you may be right in someway. I will not let the whims of my scribe sway me from my quest though.

I can relate. Not so much on the elves, but the dangerous creatures part. The difference is that you've got something else going on and my world's just been saved, so I can afford to relax a little.

Then you are lucky. I cannot afford or have the luxury to relax. Taking back an entire kingdom from a dragon is no easy feat.

It's doable, though. If my friend Takato were here he could help you out - goggle-boy's pretty good at befriending dragons. I'm more the front line of combat.

But since you're trapped here with everybody else, you should just try to take it as time to train for when you get back. No sense spending our time here doing nothing, right?

Befriending dragons? I did not think such a thing was possible. There is much I do not know about this place. [Strange news indeed.]

Perhaps. I never spend time doing nothing. A Durin is always quick on his feet and ready for battle.

Well, Takato raised the little guy. Befriending other dragons came later.

In that case, you should try to spend some time here getting stronger. Sooner or later you're going back home, but not with any prior warning. We've all got to keep alert.

I don't mean any disrespect to your wisdom, sir, but I'm not talking facts and figures. There are some things we need to experience before we really, truly know them, deep down to the marrow in our bones.

Maybe it isn't so much a whim that your scribe is acting on.

Our scribes tend to not take into account our desires. Ever. No matter what they are. As to why they want to send us to far away places... it entertains them, I think.




[OOC: Throne of Shadows is sort of high fantasy sci-fi sort of game that's laid back and pretty damn fun. And I don't know how you feel about Alan Wake although it's not fantasy at all, but The Dark Place is based on the game.]

Strange indeed. I want no further dealings with dragons, as I already have enough to deal with, let alone meeting other dragons. [Durin forgive.]

I wouldn't say awkward is her end goal mostly. I'm lucky enough to have one who wants the best for me, in terms of the big picture. She may put me through hell, but it'll be because she thinks it'll make me a better person in the end. [shrug] Compared to the horror stories you hear around here, I'm pretty well off, hey?

I'm definitely going to end up in an awkward position, but it isn't have anything to do with where I'm going and more who's going to be there. I can't say I know a whole lot about why it's going to be awkward, since she won't tell me, but... [She scratches her head.] Better awkward than horrifying or painful, right?
