sob why do characters change so much in ten years
It has been a while, hasn't it?
Many miles of road have been traveled since we split up. A lot has changed. I changed. If you come to seek adventure again, you'll have to remember that. All of it.
The journeys through the Underdark. The challenge of the surface. The Companions of the Hall. I am the only one left, by blade, by sickness or by age.
If you want true adventure, writer - seek those old tales again. Perhaps a world of faeries will excite the younger me.

[Greetings, friend. It is good to meet another drow.]
...my mun is grateful for your support.

[I've never met another I wasn't related to, truth be told. Well met, friend]
May you find a kind home.

[Where do you hail from?
...you're not stabbing him yet, this is a plus.]
There are few homes in this place that are kind, but your words are appreciated.

[A small settlement called Milika, if you have ever heard of it? It is mostly made up of my mother's old adventuring companions, and a few newcomers. ]
[Have a pleasant, if curious smile.]
I have to say it's rather nice to not be afraid for my life when meeting another.

[I have never heard of that place. Is it in the Underdark?]
I believe in judging people by actions rather than heritage. You have yet to show me any ill will.

[I have never been to the Underdark, friend. I was born on the surface, as was my sister. My mother was ...is a survivor from that place..]
You won't find an enemy in me. I dislike combat on the best of days.

[You were born on the surface?
Never had he thought about the possibility of others like him, going to the surface to flee from their own kind... and even having children. To hear that a woman had done such a thing was even more astounding, considering the hold Lolth had over the drow females.]
Dal vel'bolen qu'ellar xunus il doer?
[From which house did she come?]
I am glad to hear so.

[I was. From House Baren'datraga - a very minor House, from what I am to understand. She is a follower of Eilistraee.]
[He beams with pride at this.]
I am known as Faldain. Faldain Randir.

[I have not heard of it. Menzoberranzan?
Eilistraee was not something he was familiar with. Menzoberranzan was Lolth only, any other faith was abolished completely - he had never known another drow faith.
But there were many other gods in the Realms, including his own patron deity.]
Drizzt Do'Urden. It is good to meet you, Faldain.
