So applications open again soon. And you're still searching for him? For any of them? How many times do I have to tell you -- I'm better off alone.
[Her arms cross over her chest and she scowls. She won't go along with this. Never has she wanted in the past. Why would today, why would now, be any different? It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter how much she longs to see him again. The nature of the world is still the same. One giant arena. One giant game.
She'll play to keep herself alive. But with Haymitch now gone, with Peeta gone for nearly two months and Rue for even longer, she has no one she needs to protect. So she tells herself. Those new allies (friends?) from other worlds do not count. She doesn't owe them her life. Doesn't owe them anything. Not like she owes Peeta. Or Prim or Rue or countless other faces that haunt her at night.
Damn the Gamemaker. Damn her tricks and attempts.
But she's not the only one good at games. Not the only one with a stubborn will. So Katniss continues to glare. Glare until the girl relents. No matter how long it takes, Katniss refuses to give in. There's too much, far too much, at stake.]

They're better off without you, though. [Katniss you are so kind to yourself]

Even Clove, the girl from District 2 who should feel nothing but hate towards her no longer does. They're not friends, they probably could never be friends, but they understand each other. They come from the same world, played some of the same games.
She'll never get what Peeta saw in her. What any of them saw in her. Not really.]
Too bad they don't seem to think that.
