[Although it's a surprise to her that someone else, even her adoptive father, doesn't doubt that they'd be together, despite their separation for an entire year. Even at home they've only barely begun to work together again toward a common goal.

But... all of that is changing now, isn't it. After all in order to stop Kaname she'll have to-- to do something she never imagined she'd have to.]

Yori-chan used to be there with the two of us. And-- [A slight pause, before a touch sadly] Ichiru-kun too. We're the only ones left from our homeland now, though.

[ Perhaps it has to do with what happened currently. He didn't expect her to say just that though, but his intuition regarding these two children haven't changed one bit. Despite their separation, they had a strange bond that he couldn't quite explain.

He's been watching them for quite some time but still it is a surprise for him to hear that Zero was with her at the moment. He didn't know what they were doing or where they were going but he hoped that they would remain safe and strong. He couldn't always protect them and because of his current position it was a little more difficult. ]

[ His expression changed after a moment when she spoke about her friend and the other Kiryuu twin. It seemed like he had a lot to learn about these different places and planes of existence. ]

[There is absolutely no way that she would involve Yori with what is to come at home. It's too dangerous. Too risky. In the end it would be too heartbreaking. She cares too much about her well being to allow her to come to any harm.

She smiles, though. At the least she can be honest about this.]

[In reality, it's a little more peaceful than home. The heartache can be put on hold for just a little bit longer.]

It's, umm.... well not really normal, but I've met many wonderful people.

[And she doesn't have to worry about the thirst or starving. Even tablets are unnecessary. The few times she's had an occasional craving have been easily rectified.]

To add to my current home, my Mun is likely taking me to two other places as well. It's pretty ambitious! [Personally if Yuuki had so much spare time she'd spend it on worthwhile things like eating her favorite desserts, or sleeping, but to each their own!]

That's bound to bring her nothing but disappointment in her short mortal life.

[He doesn't enjoy being called that name, but he still acknowledged the greeting. He gives him a short nod.]

[ He did believe that she would look out for the safety of others when it came to dangerous situations. She was always like that. A confident straight forward child who did what she could to help others.

[ He's content to hear that she's safe and that there's no harm to her. ]

[ Having the time to float around and learn things about other worlds is quite interesting. It seems almost like an ideal world for her. He would hope that one day she would find a place of peace and things would be less violent as they were at the moment. ]

You are quick to make allies, Yuuki-chan. Two other places? Well I hope that they will think of you as they do this. An ambitious person indeed.

[ It sounds about right. Cross wouldn't mind cooking up concoctions for her if he had all the free time. ]

Yes, but I suppose living your life to the fullest because her life is short isn't too bad.

[ He replies in a neutral tone. It is true. Normal humans have a short life span. They cannot escape their fate to eventually die. ]

[ From his memory, their last encounter wasn't exactly pleasant. ]

There's always the option of turning her.

[ He's not going beyond that for the time being, though he does answer to Kaname's words. ]

That is a decision that she will have to make for herself.

[ a question that might get an answer but he knows much better than most people. Despite his goofy facade, he was extremely good at noting things that others do not. ]

[For Yuuki. That was the simple truth that he would never allow himself to say]

[ He knew he wasn't going to get an answer any time soon, but he could already somewhat deduct the reasoning that Kaname had about why he was doing it. He had watched them all closely for some time. ]

So, you will continue to push those closest to you further and further away for those reasons?

[ The people he trusted and the people that believed in him. Kurosu simply couldn't just push that matter aside. ]

[Not that he wants to. He just can't afford to lose them as collateral damage. He'd rather they hate him for superficial reasons, rather than lose them for the rest of his immortal life]

I believe you know the answer to this.

[ He could understand that, but watching everyone around him fall to these state, made him worry about them, despite everything. ]

You should care about yourself more, Kaname-kun.

[He cares about himself. He cares about his fragile heart that can no longer withstand heartbreak. Kaname would never allow himself to lose any of his loved ones. Especially Yuuki. If that happens again, who knows what Kaname will do.]

Caring is a dispensable emotion. It brings no benefit to both of us.

[ He can't see in into Kaname's heart, but he's concerned for the boy for those reasons. There are always other ways to approach the situation, rather sacrificing himself. He doesn't want things to end up being like that. ]

[He approached him, placing his hand on Kaien's shoulder. As much as he'd want him to understand the situation, he refuses to open his heart to anyone else aside from his beloved Yuuki. In fact, showing Yuuki his thoughts and past seemed like a bad idea altogether]

There is only so much that you can do, being a good man. I'd suggest you look after Yuuki instead.

[ There is only an expression of pain, and perhaps sadness lining his face before he changes his expression again on his words. ]

Yuuki isn't the only person. I can't bear to see Yuuki, Kiryuu-kun or even you suffer anymore. You don't have to do this Kaname-kun. There are other alternatives.

This is the only alternative.

[Kaname pauses a while and then squeezes Kurosu's shoulders firmly. This was a man he respected. A man whom he treated as a father, more than Haruka.]

I need you to watch over Yuuki. Just as you can't let her suffer, I can't let you suffer either.

[ He felt the hand earlier but he chose to ignore it for a moment, but he could feel the firmness it had on his broad shoulder. There was nothing he could do to stop this. He knew that, but trying was still an alternative. ]

I will always watch over Yuuki-chan. I want to continue looking after her as well as you.

[ There is a long a pause before he speaks again. ]

The suffering isn't important.

[He appreciates Kurosu's kind words, and will cherish that. But he will never allow his emotions and Kurosu to be a fatal weakness. He lets go of Kurosu's shoulders and head towards the exit]

I don't need protection. Best protect yourself instead.

[ There is only silence on his side as he watches Kaname leave. No matter what he said, nothing will change. Their standings now are far apart.

He may not be able to do anything, but he will still strive to fight for the things he holds precious to him. Even if he does not agree with this, he has no other choice to. ]
