Is it the lack of sleep? Are those love-depraved idiots in your medical school giving you bad ideas? Are you finally on drugs?

Sure a King needs a suitable Queen. But why now? Why all of a sudden. I'm very sorry mun, I'm not ready!

I'd like to think that I am very capable of ruling my kingdom on my own. What if he doesn't like my rule? What if the new Queen doesn't like my kingdom?

Yes, dungeon keeper. I apparently am. I have not met him. But my dearest is very crazy happy about it. She scares me.

[The Queen blinks curiously. This King doesn't recognize him? How strange. Either way, he bows back, the gesture graceful and elegant.]

Well, my advisers say that it's supposed to be a good thing. For the good of the Kingdom, I should get married. Is it wrong for me to think otherwise?

[King Alfred shook his head. No, it can't be the Queen of Spades. He speaks and moves so differently from the Arthur he's known.

The King removed his glasses and wiped them with his chiffon handkerchief. He held it against the light to check for smudges. After a moment, he wore the glasses again and made his way closer to the elegant queen. The King looked at Arthur carefully.]

Your majesty? I could barely recognize you from afar. You seem so serene today.

[He waves up at the King, but quickly takes his hand back down, shifting his weight from one foot to the other shyly.]

I... I don't know. They may have more experience with these sorts of things, maybe?

[He flinches.]

Ah-! N-not that I meant to imply that you are inexperienced! You- you're an adult as well after all!

[And he was taught to respect adults and older nations...]

[He places his hand on the boy's head for a second and smiles at him]

You are a smart kid. Truthfully, I can't deny that they have more experience than I do. Most of them are older than me. And some, are even thousands of years older than I am.

However, I must confess, I feel uneasy about a set marriage.

[The young empire calms down at the brief touch and takes a bit of confidense in the smile he gets.]

Maybe... You could try and meet the person you're supposed to marry? The two of you might actually get along well. They probably feel just as uneasy as you do.

[The Queen doesn't make remarks about what the King has observed, merely giving him a pleasant smile in return. This King also moves and speaks so differently from the Alfred he knows.]

[The king nods. He's sure that the person he is to marry is also feeling the same way. However, this does not make him feel better. ]

I know in my mind that you are right, but i can't keep my heart from feeling uneasy.

[He sat down in his throne with a mournful expression]

Hello there, your highness of hearts. I'm sure you and your mun are quite happy about it. I'm apprehensive.

Also, I don't like the sound of that statement. Are you insinuating that ruling on my own is not good for my kingdom? How dare you?

[The king looked at him quizzically. He can't refute the man's statement. For all the years that he stayed with the other queen, he was able to develop a certain magical connection with him. He knew where the queen was, no matter how far he might be. It was like a small burning light in a dark room. This man did not have that light. And yet, his heart was at ease with the man's presence]

You're not the Queen Arthur that I was with since I was a child. Now I understand.

[He took the Queen's hand, and gave it a small peck]

It is an honor to meet you, your majesty.

[He lets the King take his hand to kiss it, watching him as he does. This Alfred is different and he also feels differently to the Queen, but yes, he has to agree that he feels quite at ease in his presence.]

And it's an honor to meet you as well, Sire. I hope we get along well.

[The King escorted the Queen towards the sofa to have a seat, and offered some biscuits]

I apologize if my actions are not acceptable as a King. This engagement is stressing me. What's worse is my dearest mun hasn't informed me, whom I was supposed to marry. It's agitating me, your majesty.

[He accepts the biscuits with a smile, of course. They look delicious.]

Why hasn't she done so? Do you know the reason?

These are sugar biscuits that I have made myself. I hope you like them [he gives a bright smile]

[The King's eye twitched as he tried to remember the conversation with his most beloved one. All the shrieking, the panting, and the horrifying shrills made it hard to remember every detail.]

My dearest mun told me she arranged the marriage with another mun. She told me that it was for my own good. Apparently, she doesn't think I can take care of myself. She thinks I need someone to love me and guide me...

Oh, I do! They're delicious. [And then he sighs in remorse, looking at the cookies a bit sadly.] I wish I could make cookies as well you do... [For whenever the Queen tries to do anything in the kitchen, it all turns into a disaster.]

[He listens to the King quietly and watches him. Looking at this King makes him feel a bit old somehow, but then again he's known marriage. Surely that's something more than this King can say.]

Perhaps not, but I've found that having someone to love by your side is a blessing. [He offers the King another smile.] I was much like you before; I didn't think I needed love either.
