[Because Jaren wants a lightsaber. A real one, not one of those stupid plastic toys. Think of the epic battles he could have! ...Well, maybe he should ask for two.]

['Suck' being an understatement. Jaren's forte in the realm of cooking is making poptarts and cereal.]

[He pouts a little at Rafe's question. Oh, how he wishes.]

Naw, not actually. You can buy them as stupid plastic toys, but what I'd give for a real one. Battles with a laser sword? Best thing ever.

[He's just a little wary about doctors. Just a tad. Bad memories. But.]

Yeah, though Kedric's been trying to at least teach me not to let myself get distracted. I'll be cooking burgers, the phone'll ring, I'll set a towel down too close to the pan...stuff's burning.

[He shrugs a bit, slightly embarrassed. At least they had the fire extinguisher.]

Takeout's great! Pizza, y'know?

[Jaren frowns a bit at the kid's disappointment. They could do stuff in this room, right? And hell, being a wizard was a good excuse too, even if his magic was more than a little rusty sometimes.]

Wait, lemme see here...

[He holds out his right hand in front of him, trying to imagine a lightsaber. A real, functioning weapon. After several seconds of concentration, a cylindrical object made of metal appears in his hand. Jaren cackles.]

Ha! Now to see if it actually works...

[He directs the weapon away from Rafe and flips the switch, smirking as a golden blade emerges. Ta da.]
