OC's reaction to newest Iron Fey book (spoilers) and mun-conversation
Mundane,
You have got to be joking.
Mackenzie St. James. Mackenzie St. James. And she gets mistaken for a popular cheerleader. And pulled into Faery by the main character.
I know, I know it's only surface similarities, but still. The reason you've been slow to work on the novel is...what exactly? If you'd been more dedicated, it might be published by now - I might be a canon character instead of an OC - and you wouldn't have to worry about anyone thinking you stole my name from this other Mackenzie (who spells it wrong) instead of your then-best friend coming up with it seventeen years ago. I like my name, and you had better not even think about changing it.
At least I've never, ever, gone by Kenzie. I can't stand shortenings of my name. Bad enough Raven likes to call me "Mackie" from time to time, just to needle me.
And what is this about McKenzie being a common, boring name? The girls who told you that can't be serious. It wasn't all that common when you first gave it to me. It can't be common now. Raven's birth name is common. Kyle's name is common. Mine? I don't think so.
Anyway, finish this fan-fiction thing you're doing for nanowrimo this year, get it out of your system, and get back to editing. That third draft should have been finished seasons ago. If you actually dedicate time to it like you should, you can have it done before Changeover.

P.S. - You made me this journal, like you made one for Raven. It would be nice if you would use it once in a while. Let me speak. You said yourself your handle on my voice isn't as strong as your handle on Raven's. It's the off-season for me, so I've got plenty of time, and you know it.
