It is contradictory, yes, and that reply is in the voice of a mature, kind, and ever patient being. She has seen many things happen, after all. But many beings are contradictory. Creatures would not be so wonderful if they were not, from mortal to god to animal to the spirits of the departed. There is no day without night, no fullness without hunger, and no hope without despair, after all.]
