There isn't much of a point.

You'll have to be specific if you want to woo more people over to your cause.

She wants me to talk to other worlds, but not be able to travel to them. It's pointless.

It's better than travelling and not being able to get home. Imagine what you could learn from other worlds!

It would be of more use if I could get people out of this world, or bring weapons back from other ones.

Though I guess meeting engineers would be useful.

Get them to send you plans, and recreate the weapons in your world. [what's the space/time continuum and what's damaging it] A bit more work, but the results can be the same.
