Isn't this a hasty decision, though? Especially since you are still new to handling me, and seem to desire bringing me from a particularly unfortunate moment in my life...

Well, lives. Here I am more aware of the past actions of certain others whom I've fought alongside, after all. Myself included. That you would bring me in either from the death I remember, or the death that was at the hands of Madoka-chan.........

I only ask that you please not make the same mistake I did. Even if the consequences of jumping in with me aren't as...dire.

[ it wasn't enough, but she didn't know what else she could even say. ]

There's nothing for you to apologize for, Madoka-chan.

[She smiles, but it is not a happy one.]

It was my fault from the beginning, many of those times. And that time...I thought I was doing the right thing.

Perhaps I was simply being selfish.

Don't say that. It was never your fault. If anything, I...

[ but she trails off. she should've been able to do something, anything, but she wasn't sure what. at that terrible moment, all she could do was fire. ]

To be entirely fair, Madoka's intervention was a matter of survival. You had lost your mind at the time.

[Guess who remembers the timelines here, too?]

You were doing what you felt was the only way, didn't you? In a way, we were thinking the same. We didn't want each other to have to carry that terrible burden in that timeline.

[She bites her lip.]

In the end, though, our actions didn't matter, when compared to Homura-san's determination to save you.

I'm afraid you are incorrect on that assumption, Kyuubey-san. I was...upset, yes, but I had not gone insane during that time.

[More devastated and guilty, actually. But in any case.]

Everything mattered. Please don't blame yourself, Mami-san...

[ she'd killed Mami in her determination to save Homura. Homura's determination to save her resulted in countless more deaths. but in the end... ]

I was able to find a way to save everyone, including you. That timeline was too painful, but... I hope you're happy with what happened in the end.

You were overcome with emotion and acted hastily.

...I will admit I was overwhelmed. But I thought I was doing what was best for those I had helped bring into this life.

My only regret is that we don't get to fight together in the world you created. But, I will still get to meet you one day, and no one will have to turn into a Witch.

[In other words, she's sure she will be happy.]

I'll still be with everyone! Just... not physically. I hope it helps, if you think of it that way.

I'm sure it will help me. I'm just not quite to that point yet...at least I don't think so.

[Even though in the end, the timeline where Madoka is a god is the definitive one. Even while Mami is still existing (sort of, as in both points the mun is considering taking her from, she is to be dead) in a timeline that will be erased....]

The timelines and different things can be a bit confusing when a newcomer to it all one tries to explain it all in words.

That's definitely true! My player struggled over which timeline she wanted to take me from, too. Does yours really want to play you from that one? The one where I...

[ ... she doesn't really want to say it out loud, even after everything. ]

To be honest, she's not sure precisely which timeline she wants to take me from, though I know she wants me to be taken after I've died and those are her two top choices.

She...can be a bit cruel in her own way.

... A lot of them can be. But I hope that they can be kind, sometimes, too.

That is compassionate of you, Mami. You sought only to end their suffering. Madoka simply had different goals. If you look at it that way, she ended your own, as well. I would think that would be something to thank her for.

You know, in that timeline you're talking about, should I take it personally that you went for me first?

[She smiles grimly.] I feel like we coulda talked about it, at least.

No. It was nothing personal that made me go after you first.

[It was...really just strategy, once she made her mind up, once she'd reasoned it out in that split second. Kyoko was the most experienced of her remaining team, so it was logical to take her out first.

If...if logic could at all be applied to the entire situation they were all in to begin with.]

I know I should have, at least now with the benefit of hindsight. But back there, all I had was what I had just seen happen to Sayaka-chan.

[tiri]

I'm not angry with her for what she did. But, I'm not entirely sure she would want me to thank her for that.

[Not that she wasn't thankful, when Kyuubey put it that way. But wouldn't such a thing only increase despair, especially in someone who was as compassionate and kind as Madoka was?

Mami knew how she did not want to be thanked for what she'd tried to do. Giving thanks would be like pouring salt in a wound.]

[Despite the subject matter, Kyouko's voice remains relatively casual.]

I don't hold it against you. If you'd managed to kill Miss Time Travel, too, then we'd have all been screwed.

[She tilts her head and frowns.] So, as things stand… you've got about as much to feel guilty about as the rest of us.

This is true. We've all done things we're not proud of.

[After a moment, she smiles.]

But, aside from that, Kyoko-chan. Its been awhile, regardless, and its good to see you again. Has your mun been treating you well?

[soulfood]

[Her voice loses the casual touch and begins to sound more guarded.]

Sure, I've been fine. Hard to complain. But, you know, I'm not holding my breath that things couldn't get worse in a hurry.
