Breaking out the Voice Test Again
I would say something smug and possibly condescending, but it seems that you are properly abashed, Ms. Mun. I appreciate your efforts at organization and the research you continue to put in on my behalf in your spare time.
On the issue of spare time, however... I'm well aware that your professional career is promising an easier month with more of that elusive free time, but my job still has me quite busy. I'm not even sure what you're hoping to accomplish with me. I was quite clear laying out the problems with finding a game for me, but...
[She sighs, pursing her lips and putting one hand lightly to her forehead.]
I know that look. Oh, you've got to be kidding me--
While I'm flattered that you're striving to reach my level of "together-ness", as you put it... are you sure your headspace isn't better suited for Tony? I've seen the journal you have hidden in the wings of your musebox. You're quite alike. But maybe that would be the problem?
Still, I really don't see why I need to split myself in two to take care of both of you.

She's half-expecting me to run her agenda, I think! I've really got way too many other things on my plate, and it doesn't help that the agenda is in another language. I really don't think there's time enough for this and vetoing game ideas.

Oh, wow. Sorry, Clint. I suppose I'm just a touch stressed. How are you?

I'm fine. Enjoying a bit of downtime. Maybe your mun'll let you do the same.

I guess I should have known it wouldn't last forever, but I had hoped I could get a little more polished off at work before this.

Well, at least in my case. I'm not sure how it is with you these days?

I suppose it's too much to ask if I should be worried? Or if there's a chance Tony is going to get himself tangled up in something again?

[He's not wrong. Pepper chews on the inside of her lip before nodding, accepting that one.]
I think the level of trouble increases when the Avengers are thrown into the mix, personally. Usually he's not out chasing aliens or dealing with... I don't know... whatever it is you guys always deal with.
[Because she's not supposed to know that. Tony definitely doesn't tell her more than she has clearance for, what would give someone that impression?]

We try to keep an eye on him, don't worry.
no subject
Unfortunately, I know from experience how difficult that is.
But you said you had a little downtime! So, I'll try not to worry quite as much.

I hear Stark's building a new tower.
no subject
I actually went to check on the tower yesterday.
[Just to see how things were going. Definitely not to make sure Tony hadn't been adding any changes on a whim that she needed to know about.]
As long as you guys can avoid blowing it up, it should be finished in another month or two. Or three. I can't be too optimistic, I guess.
no subject
No promises on the blowing up. Things might get tactical. We'll try to stop any megalomaniacle alien masterminds from getting their hands on it.

[Pepper's smiling, so she's joking. Mostly.]
Just do me a favor and make sure I'm not managing a last second evacuation, okay? I'm going to start implementing "Alien Doom Machine" drills instead of fire drills at this rate.

And, hey, you're pretty good at it. Sure you don't want to join SHIELD?
no subject
And, of course, not running for my life quite as often. The heels make it a little difficult.

I think we're finally on the same page for which direction the company needs to go, though? Maybe. We're working on the public awareness campaign for the buildings now, too, which you would think wouldn't be that much trouble.
You'd be amazed at how hard it is to get Tony to go say how amazing new technology is when he's busy working on his next toy.

[How should she put this?]
...procrastinate. A little. At least when he's working on a new project.
