Not your typical Nuzlocke complaint

I know it just kind of happened, but... now what am I supposed to do with all of them?

Might I suggest getting to know them better. You never know when things will go wrong. Don't squander friendships on time in "the box".

['Things going wrong' is exactly why he's tempted to leave them in storage- they're safe there.]

Only had a team of about six up through Cinnabar. I don't try to catch if I can help it, so... [He looks away, pensively.]

But then I got this Omanyte and he's too young and slow to run well, and now I've got four more.

Should keep away from trainers, then, just to be safe. That kind of risk isn't something anyone should have to face.

[Kebi has no idea what a nuzlocke is. He instead focuses on the fact that this is a human. So have a Seviper that's studying you. ...A Seviper with a black and red cape on. And a beige band around his tail near the blade.]

You may not have a chance otherwise. Yours is a world where battle is constant, and depending on the 'rules' of your gods, those pokemon may go after you if they cannot go after each other.

[Meanwhile, Samson will be studying him right back- he's pretty sure they don't have any pokemon that look like this in Kanto.]

'm a trainer. We kinda deserve it.

[It's strange and oddly touching, hearing an unfamiliar pokemon express such concern on his behalf. As far as he can tell, he's done nothing to inspire that kind of reaction.]

Had a full team already, before this. Even if they're all willing, they don't need to take that chance.

[Kebi eventually is polite enough to bow down and speak in standard pokespeak.]


I greet you. I go by the name of Namaak. May I ask what name you go by?

Um... hi?

[He returns the bow, but there's a bit of a language barrier going on here.]

[Kebi waits for a few more seconds before realizing that the human doesn't understand him. He thinks for a couple of seconds, wondering what to do before pointing his tail at himself.]

Namaak.

[He then points his tail at the human. He's asking for a name.]

Oh!

I'm Samson. Sorry I don't understand you very well, Namak.

[That's to be expected since Samson isn't a Pokemon. Kebi smiles, glad to hear that he's able to communicate on some level.

Then he thinks for a few seconds. He draws a happy face in the dirt that they were totally standing on, pointing to it and then himself. He points curiously over to Samson.]

Where's N when you need him?

[More blank staring.]

....I don't get it.

He's in the kitchen eating cookies from the cookie jar.

[Well this sucks. This is the first time he's ever met a human and he can't even talk to it.

...He points at the image, then to himself, smiling afterwords.]

May I ask how you're doing?

[He points at the human again, looking like he's curious.]

[It's not the first time Sam has talked to a pokemon without the aid of translation or telepathy- far from it- but this is the first time that they've been the one asking him questions rather than the other way around. It takes a few more repetitions, but eventually he pieces together what the serpent is trying to get at.]

Fine, I guess... just... not quite sure what to do next, 's all.

[Kebi hopes that that will come off as a question, but in order to enhance the effect, he looks confused. What does the human mean "next"?]

Realizing he's talking to a trainer....

Might be a good idea. Sooooo, uh.

[Aaaaaawkwaaaard.

A sudden gust of wind howled, blowing a tumbleweed past.]

[The wild Glaceon ran away!]

[This time the question comes across clearly, but the answer gives him pause. Samson doesn't want to lie to the Seviper, but he's not exactly eager to share the gory details if he can avoid it.]

I'm used to working closely with a small team of pokemon... only now we've got a lot of new additions to that team and I'm not sure how it's going to change things.

[Yeah, he kind of walked right into that.]

[A pause, then Kebi bows down. Maybe he should be polite to them? Make friends with them?]
