Canon: A mermaid tale

Not exactly where I thought I'd be today but a new experience can't be too bad, right. It's a little exciting to be so close to all of these ... these humans! I wonder what their fashion is like? Do they all have those wiggly toes? It's all so fascinating! Now that I'm here, do you have anywhere to put me?

No? I've never been so far from home before! You can't keep me hooked on your line for no reason! Your head is all wishy washy, it's like you took a spin in a whirlpool for a couple hours! Please just cut the line if I'll be splashing in this puddle forever.

Humans are pretty boring when you grow up around them. ...Us. ...Yeah.

So, what are you?
sandwormie: (Let me think about that.)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Luke turns red.]

Um... yeah... I'm thirteen, so - almost adult, almost a man. Not yet. [He's a very runty thirteen, though.]

I've never seen mermaids. I know there's some on Iskalon.
sandwormie: (So yeah um)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but they're in my boots now. [He stamps his feet a little, self-conscious.]
sandwormie: (Just gotta re-route these circuits)

They weren't at first, but they got better. They're for protecting my feet from rocks and animals and so on. And hot sand. And the suns.

Humans who walk around outside on Tatooine, that's where I'm from, have to have boots. Or at least shoes.
sandwormie: (It's so boring here.)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
There's almost no water on Tatooine. No one swims anywhere. There's supposed to be a couple rich hotels that have big tubs people can fill with water and just lie in, but we don't have that kind of money.
sandwormie: (But why not?)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a little. My family's moisture farmers - we use these machines called vaporators to pull water out of the air. If you place one right and keep it in condition, you can get two liters a day out of it.
sandwormie: (A piece of me is missing)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Merma- right.

Well, um, there's always air dissolved in water, just about, and there's usually water dissolved in air, too.

Humans and other lunged people going into the water have to use machines to get air out of it so they can breathe. When we live somewhere without water just standing around, we need machines like vaporators to get the water from the air.
sandwormie: (Yeah I'm good)

Thanks! I think. A lot of it's pretty old technology, though, and not all made by humans.

sandwormie: (Don't worry about it.)

Luke! Luke Skywalker. Hi.
sandwormie: (A piece of me is missing)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Fin- Right.

Thanks? I've never met any other Lukes. The game I'm in, there was this lady who showed up and her son's name was Luke and she was looking for him. I feel bad. Someone told her there was a Luke there, but I'm not him.

Yeah... I think she's fine about all that now, at least. I do feel bad, but, y'know, not much I can do about names that are the same.
sandwormie: (I'm the little guy - unfortunately.)

I've been in two so far, I've stuck around just in general for at least a year.

It's... different! Home's really boring. Games usually have a lot going on and interesting people. Have to be careful because not all of them are good, though.
sandwormie: (Well - um. That's fine!)

[personal profile] sandwormie 2012-09-17 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends! Most are for lunged people like humans. A lot of games will have like a lake or an ocean as part, but it's mostly dry land.
