Pondering things.

So there's a place you're curious about that would make me human.

Would that mean I would have everything a human does? My own morals that aren't programmed into me? A soul even, hm?

Someone like me doesn't wish or dream about things like that. I can't. But I will say the idea of experiencing being truly 'alive' would be an interesting experiment. Even I can agree with you on that.

"You seem pretty alive to me. And it's been my experience that it doesn't matter much if you were coded up or born - you're still alive and worth respect on that front."

"How do you know they're an illusion? So far, you've passed the Turing test, and Hobbes's theory on calculation, and there's no evidence either way about humans having souls any more than an AI does."

He smiles lopsidedly. "I stopped seeing the difference a long time ago. Humans are coded and programmed - genetics, environmental factors, experiences. Why shouldn't that apply to sentient life we code or build?"

"Well, wherever you're heading, good luck. If you become human, you'll probably learn a lot. If not, then learn anyway."
