Mun?

Hey, hey Mun!

What is a zoo?

You want me to go see one in an upcoming thread, but you didn't say what it was!

How do I know if I will like it if you don't tell me?

What do you mean don't feed the EVOs?

It's a place where they keep animals in cages so people can stare. [Fen's not real fond of zoos.]

What's an EVO?

It's not. You'd think people could just let nature alone, but noooo. [Though Fen would be all for putting his cousin Celia in a cage. He's not sure she belongs in her natural setting.]

[You'll have to excuse his blinking in confusion. Nanites aren't something he's familiar with.]

Actually, I don't. I'm more a magic kinda guy. Not that we don't have science, I'm just...not real good at it.

[Yeah, he's embarrassed now.]

[Now he's grinning. Thanks Rafe, you've given him an excuse to show off.]

Yep! Watch.

[Fen holds out a hand and a palm-sized ball of flame erupts into existence. He lets it hover over his hand for a few seconds before forming a translucent bluish-purple ball around the fire, containing it. Despite what should be the obvious lack of oxygen, the fire continues to burn.]

Fire spell inside the Barrier spell.

[Fen bounces it harmlessly from hand to hand a couple times before letting both spells dissipate into nothing.]

I've got others, but probably better not to freeze the floor here, or anything. [The nanite explanation makes him pause. Not because he's not getting it, but the idea that they're in everything. Like-]

Everything everything? People, plants, all that?

[Fen agrees. It's even more awesome when you don't burn your tree house down by accident.]

Not too long, actually. If you work at it, you can usually start making a few small sparks in about a week. It gets better from there, but control is the big thing. If you've got a talent for magic, you need to make sure you find a good teacher so you don't burn things up...or turn them into over-sized ice cubes. One of my ancestors was sorta accident-prone with his Fire spell when he was your age. [He's guessing about Rafe, but he's pretty sure he's right.]

...The nanites sound kinda interesting. Maybe I oughta work at my science more. [He says that now, but his comic books would win. They always win.]

Were they always in everything where you come from?
