It's a bit hard to believe it's all over, after everything was such a mess for so long... and muns seem to be fast at making a big deal out of so many things, so I was making sure...

[N's used to parting and meeting with the other boy so suddenly, and even though there's a swell of countless different thoughts and expressions in his chest, he maintains his usual distant demeanor. he offers a disarming nod of understanding.]

My mun says I "ruined everything" so I understand what you mean. Things were very chaotic for a long while, but I took your words to heart.

Accepting different values, understanding different ideals... It allowed me to help the new hero, and find my own purpose in the process.

Judging 'right' and 'wrong' for real isn't something Touya is quite up to yet, but he can't see N as someone bad, someone deserving of being judged like this, even in joking.]

[It's the 'christmas tree' one that has Touya grinning a bit before he even realizes it. Muns had some weird thoughts for sure, but he couldn't help finding it a bit funny.

His expression turns flustered as N goes on. This kind of formal talk was a different level from the things he might get told on other occassions, but he shouldn't have expected anything else from N.

It's funny for sure! But Pokemon smiles do have a nice look to them, it's true. Sunflora always seems so cheerful... But I also like Audino's expression, it's so soft and sweet.

They all look best smiling though, in their own ways.

[N was still learning to adjust to communicating with humans on a deeper level than RELEASE YOUR POKEMON OR I'LL TAKE THEM FROM YOU!!!!, so things like connotation and facial expressions are still difficult for him to grasp at times. smiles though-- smiles are universal, and seeing touya make such a face, being able to discuss them with him so easily... it made him pretty happy.]

I think so as well! I was friends with an Audino on my travels for a bit-- they're so kind, it's no wonder they have such sweet smiles! If only you'd been able to meet them... I'm sure you would have gotten along.

That would have been nice...

[It's an interesting experience, talking to N like this, casually. It's finally not a matter of 'do you agree or disagree on these and those ideals' anymore and it gets Touya closer to understanding N as a person. On top of that, it's also much more comfortable and the replies come easier to him. Pokemon are a universal and very good topic.]

But that's also kind of the thing about travels... You never know who you meet and don't meet, it's always a surprise. Who knows, maybe you or I might end up encountering that Audino again... you can't really be sure. It's what makes it an adventure.

I don't think it sounds strange at all... It's true, is it not? We met again, after all, even if there are countless new experiences between us now. But even so, the uncertainty until now is what made those experiences special in my mind.

[he pauses briefly, an uncharacteristic hesitance seizing him, but of course he speaks what's in his mind with his usual callow and candid wonder.]

I ended up seeing a whole lot of Unova before I even knew it though.

[It was a bit weird how N could so easily rephrase something Touya just said as it came to his mind to something that could come straight from a philosophy book. A very... N thing to do for sure.]

T-travel together?

[The thought felt natural and then again it didn't. Having a companion along the way, sharing tiny or long parts of the journey, was a part of being a Pokemon trainer and an enjoyable one, too. Touya wasn't a very forceful person when it came to contacts, but that didn't mean he didn't like spending his time with others.
But this was N and he wasn't sure what that argument accounted for at the moment. At no point in time he'd disliked the young man, but there'd been quite the history between them after all.]

I don't know, I mean... would you like to?

[Maybe after all this time of being asked question after question and being led by only those, it was time to just ask something himself for once. And he was genuinely curious. Understanding N was a hard task for sure, but Touya wanted to do it.]

I really did... And I got better with it over time, too, but it still happens to me if I don't pay attention. Heh.

Getting lost is easier than it sounds! Especially in places like, Pinwheel Forest, or... Twist Mountain. [Urgh. The memories.]

I admire any person who can get through that without even the slightest bit of disorientation... It's so confusing in there...

I KNOW! That's what I like it in winter better, you just run up and down the snow mounds! ...and because of the Cubchoos, of course.

[even if it was his suggestion (sort of, right?), his eyes still widened upon hearing the boy ask him that question. he felt as if it were solidifying the reality of his thoughts; N couldn't count the number of times he'd happened upon something or other throughout his journey (though most of it was spent either in hiding or on the run from the police) that reminded him of the other hero. not running into touya at one point or another felt almost unnatural to him over time.

N doesn't say anything at first, but his expression says it all; wide eyes with weakly sealed lips reminiscent of a child a little too excited to formulate a proper sentence. it's mostly because he himself isn't too sure on what to say. the thought seems natural to N too, but there was so much destiny between them, so many questions unanswered--

but touya's the one initiating the destiny this time, so N gives a few vigorous nods.]

I would like that. My inexperience with human society might be troublesome at times, but I cannot think of anyone more patient with me than you are...

[he doesn't want to be a pain or a burden, not anymore-- but the thought of being by touya's side again has definitely crossed his mind.]

[Hearing it like this, it was suddenly much easier for Touya to imagine traveling together. Perhaps it would help ending the strange state of unsureness regarding what brought them together. Chance, destiny, good, bad, black, white. There had been a lot of words, but none defined them as people.
It would be easier if they could just make friends for being N and Touya instead of fated heroes, Touya thought to himself silently.
He smiles. There is still a vague hint of unsureness in it, but regardless of that it is completely genuine]

You just have to learn a bit, right? I'm not sure if I'm exactly a teacher, because you probably know so much more than me, but I guess I can at least deal with people and show you that some more...

[When leaving his home city he'd been much more shy and unsure but at this point he'd gathered a lot more confidence. It was true, it seemed. Travelling with Pokemon made a person grow into someone new and stronger.]

[he could hardly believe his ears, though he has no idea why since N knows deep down in his heart that touya is too kind to say anything else. even with his reserved nature, there was a strength and nobility within him that N saw with the clarity of fire and lightning's collision. it's always been there in N's eyes, he saw it the moment he first laid eyes upon the boy and spoke his first words to him and his pokemon, and part of him wanted to show touya just what he saw. if he could do that by traveling with him...

N thinks it could really make him happy.

he feels a bit awkward doing so, but he returns the smile, small and disarming but completely sure and confident, even a little delighted.]

Truthfully, I was only able to reach this point of enlightenment because I had met you.

[N doesn't want to think about a world where he didn't choose touya, had spoken to someone who wasn't as strong as he was-- a world where pokemon and people were separated and his traitorous father was still ruling over his every action.]

So if it's you showing me, I believe I can continue to learn many things-- about myself, the humans here and their precious Pokemon. I also wish to learn about you as well.

[he gives another nod, remembering the time in nacrene city when he'd spoken of wanting to befriend touya. his wish still remained, even now.]

[N looks better when he's smiling, Touya decides. Talking to the other was different from other casual encounters for sure. With N it was always like they came from different worlds and had to work their ways over the borders and in a way that was probably true. For the longest time N had probably lived in the world of Pokemon rather than anywhere close to the human environment Touya grew up in.]

I'm not exactly filled with wisdom though... I mean, I'm glad I could help you, but for the most part I don't see how...

[He laughs, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. Touya isn't insecure, but it is hard for him to see exactly what N sees. In his own eyes he is just a boy who'd gone out to see the world and then suddenly ended up in the middle of a big mess.]

[Really talking, not having N disappear before he could reply like it had been the case so often. It was something Touya already began looking forward to. Out of all people he knew N was most extraordinary , but it wasn't a bad way of it. Not anymore and maybe not ever.]

[the disbelief on his face is almost comical, puerile and obvious but not in a negative way. there was a bit of awe reflecting in his normally dull eyes, grey sparking to life somewhat as he shook his head.]

You're filled with great wisdom! You are a person of great strength of heart and conviction, someone of unyielding will and a pure, noble heart!

[he sort of wants to reach forward and grab or touch the other boy, but there are so many rules to physical contact that he can hardly be bothered to remember that he decides against it.]

There is an entire universe within you, a universe I want to understand as fully as possible. Of course the person most suited to know everything about you is me! And I want you to continue being the one who understands me best of all, too.

[lofty words, but N means it from the bottom of his heart. he's still a child who lives in a world of fairytales and dreams, where fate was still prevalent and his heart was the sovereign ruler of all things he saw before him. to him, his and touya's connection ran deeper than something as haphazard as chance. they had thousands of years of destiny between them-- N considered touya his antithesis and ideal, the kind hero the world he envisioned needed.]

So, it pleases me to hear you wish to talk with me more, because I feel the same.

[Touya is left speechless for a bit, just staring at N, while his cheeks heat up slightly.
This was surely not the kind of thing to just say to somebody. Of course the rules of other people didn't apply to N, not really, but to Touya they did and because of that he just didn't know how to react.
A universe within him...? That was just... a bit much.

But essentially, he figures, this translates to N just wanting to know him better and be his friend. And more importantly, wanting Touya to do and be the same for him. Phrasing it like this it's still a lot, but better to deal with.]

That's... You say a lot of big things, you know that, N? Heh...

I can't really say anything as deep as that back, but... let's make good friends for real, okay?

[It's a starting point. Touya begins to feel like this challenge is one of the biggest he's faced so far, but there was chances it would be a lot of fun along the way]

[touya isn't the only one lighting up; N's face illuminates with a bridge across his face as he purses his lips momentarily as if shutting himself up. it wasn't necessarily expressed as a bad thing, and N knew that, but it still wasn't something he'd necessarily recognized about himself. he was still working on understanding his own self and knowing who he was beyond concepts such as purpose and use.]

Eh-- I apologize! I talk very quickly, as I am sure you realize, and there are just so many thoughts and feelings I want to express, so--

[he can't help but chuckle too as he feels his cold and distant defenses falling bit by bit. it's a little odd to him, being disarmed so easily, and if it were anyone else he would be walking away or trying to make sense of every little phrase and action in this situation, but he was always compelled to trust touya. like he said, he truly felt able to understand the other boy.]

It tends to accumulate into a lot of elegantly-worded nothing, doesn't it? But rather than trying to explain it, I will just say that I'm happy.

[finally, the urge overwhelms him, and he extends a hand, a little unsure of what to expect of it, but still inviting touya to touch and be touched.]

['Happy' sounds good. After all that had happened, after all Ghetsis said and done, N can tell Touya that he's happy, even just for now. It feels relieving to the boy.
As N offers his hand to him, he only hesitates very, very briefly before taking it and turning it to a warm handshake.]

I'm happy as well. It's been overdue for us to start over like this.

[The thought of never seeing N again had crossed his mind a while ago and it had felt strange. While they had never been exactly close by the real definition of it, Touya did feel a sense of connection between them. Ending their story with N leaving so suddenly seemed to leave things incomplete.]

And... it's not bad when you try to explain, it's just... Sometimes I feel like you make things a little too complicated for me...

[How long would be the appropriate time for their hands to stay connected? Touya isn't sure, so he lets it last for another moment. Regardless of everything, N isn't the only awkward one.]

[He laughs awkwardly. It was, after all, due to being talked into catching remnants of Team Plasma, partly, but that wasn't something he should say here, he supposed. It was something to talk about for sure, but sometime later, when they had time and a better atmosphere for such things.]

I don't mind that it's far, I've always wanted to see much more of the world, so we should do it!

Okay! I want to see the world as well-- as much of it as we can in our lifetime. There are many other regions to explore outside of Hoenn, such as Sinnoh and the non-league regions. A whole new world awaits us, Touya! Both around us and within ourselves!

The further from Unova they got the less aware people should be of N, so the easier he'd be to disguise. But Touya doesn't think too much about that yet either. First steps first, the rest would fall into place afterwards.]

[hiding out and traveling incognito was never really his forte, and even now, it's not at the forefront of his mind. being with someone he's always wanted to be close to, someone who knows way more about humans and their culture than he does is more than he can bear.]

I love trains-- their complex mechanics in contrast to the simple manner in which they move in a preset direction has always interested me. I really want to ride one...!

Welp, my mun always chooses the girl and names her with her nickname. Except for the latest Kanto game, she said that for the sake of "nostalgia and canon" she chose the boy and named him Red. I think she'll pick Kyouhei in our sequel, too, thanks to that animation.

Well, Emboar is called 'Johanna' for some reason. And I'm honestly not sure why Reshiram ended up being 'Legend', since she's usually pretty, uh, creative.

Oh, really? For the sequel my mun surprisingly wants to play Mei. She says her design is adorable.

Aaah! I like Johanna very much! And Legend isn't that bad... But you know, creative doesn't always work. My mun got the three starters and named them Blue, Red and Green. But then her Munna got called Bel in my honor so I guess I can't complain!

Hehe, mine tried Mei out in the rom. But she thinks all protags are cute. Including you, you know! [The cutests dork.]
