voice testing.
You seem to be a bit lost with what to do with me, but might I make a suggestion, Ms Mun? You don't have to do anything at all, if you don't feel like it. Being nervous is one thing, but it's another entirely to let your anxieties get the best of you.
It's quite alright. I'll be happy up here whilst you try to figure it all out. I'm not much the type to be impatient, so take all the time you need.
And thank you, by the way, for looking my way at all. I appreciate it, knowing that I'm not the type you usually go for. It's good to be here, so you take your time with the books and the movies. You're new to all of this, after all - and I don't want to rush you, that's not what I want at all.

There you are, Sam. I was wondering when I'd find you around here.
no subject
I've been a bit lost, Mr Frodo. My mun had been on a quest herself in avoiding our stories, but something managed to drag her in in the end. Some might say it were luck, but I have to wonder if I wasn't here the entire time, hidden away and waiting patiently to be discovered.
no subject
A quest of her own? I hardly think she'd be able to ignore you Sam, it's no wonder she came back.
[ he laughs then, a real laugh, that he hasn't done much of. ]
Then we must congratulate your mun, as she has surely found the bravest of hobbits in her space.
no subject
She may be a stubborn one, but she had to give in eventually. I've discovered that I don't stay hidden for very long.
Oh, I don't know, Mr Frodo. I think the bravest hobbit is right here, trying his best to convince himself otherwise.
no subject
I think you should listen to me on this one, dear Sam. You are much braver than I am. I think someone here might be doubting my word.
[ he pulls back a little, clasps his shoulders. he looks tired, as he has since they left on their own, but the smile on his face is sincere. ]
It's so good to see you, Sam.
no subject
Oh, but he sees how tired he is, for Sam may not be the smartest hobbit in the whole of the shire, but there's no one else so in tune with Frodo's expressions and feelings than Samwise Gamgee. He allows himself to be pulled back, hands mirroring that of Frodo's as he tilts his head thoughtfully.
His smile couldn't be wished away, that much is fact. ]
You're too kind, Mr Frodo, and I won't be forgetting it any time soon. Though I don't doubt your words so much as find fault in the idea of being the bravest, when there's one such as you so close by.
[ But to see so much exhaustion is jarring, and to remedy it might be impossible. He wonders where his Frodo has been since they've been parted, but he doesn't quite have the heart to ask, not yet. ]
And it's even better to see you, sir.
no subject
frodo just smiles, smiles until the shadows under his eyes pass for a moment, and he might be close to the hobbit that read under the trees, that greeted his gardener every morning with a smile and a cheerful tale around the neighborhood. that remembers each and every piece of his home and not blurry memories of what home and safety felt like.
that's why he needs sam. to remind him of who he is, if he should ever return. still, he's strong, resilient though he doesn't feel it, and his smile stays on his face despite the shadows in his eyes, the thinness of his shoulders. ]
I believe you took the words out of my mouth, Sam. In that case we are fortunate to be in one another's company, as I surely feel, on my part.
[frodo wouldn't have gotten far without sam.]
Must be, if you had been stuck there for so long without any decent company! If not for her sending you out I might have liked to have a word with her!

There's a darkness in Frodo's eyes that Sam can't read, and that alone leaves him feeling uncomfortable, for he should be able to bear every weight his Frodo is forced to hold. There are things Sam hasn't seen and can't understand, things he can't discern that are locked within his friend's gaze; the only thing he can offer is a comforting squeeze of the shoulder, and it feels as though it's all too little too late. He hasn't been able to offer any guidance over what's bothering his master presently, and with no way of knowing how to fix it - well, there's a significant feeling of being useless. But he refuses to allow it to swallow him up, not when there's a perfectly good feeling of happiness mixed in with everything else - oh, he's glad to see his Frodo if nothing else, and he's pleased to know that he's been missed just as much. ]
I certainly feel it too, for where would I truly be without Mr Frodo by my side? Lost without a doubt, I'm sure of it.
[ Sam finds himself laughing now, shaking his head ever so slightly. ]
No, it was fine; I wasn't alone, not completely. Though I wonder, what would you have said, exactly? She's all ears, or so I'm told.
no subject
I imagine it would be far safer here, than where we're headed. It might be good of you to be here for a bit, Sam.
[ he squeezes his shoulder then, only to marvel at how sam does the same to him. they've become quite close during this journey, so much that they knew what the other were thinking often, knew how the other felt because it was on their faces. he's glad that hasn't changed. that he hasn't changed to know it. ]
Well! I'd tell her that what she's doing is hardly respectable! That she ought to be ashamed of herself from taking such a brave hobbit into her head without immediate planning what to do with him! Then I suppose I'd find Gandalf to have him finish the delivery, he's quite grumpy, you know, bless him.
[ he chuckles then. ]
I think I'd be quite frightening.
no subject
Samwise, unfortunately, can't help with something that Frodo refuses to say - though he'll try to regardless. ]
But it wouldn't do you any good, Mr Frodo! Mr Gandalf told me not to leave your side, and I still don't mean to, not for a second.
[ They've been parted for long enough already, and Sam would do most anything to ensure that his company remain beside his master. ]
Oh, I wouldn't be too mean to her, Mr Frodo. She made the right choice in the end, after all, and I should think that's the most important thing to consider. She may not have everything figured out, but she hasn't stopped thinking about where I might like to be, so long as you're there to greet me. Though I wonder if she really deserves for Mr Gandalf to give her stern words when she's done little to nothing wrong!
[ Another grin! ]
I've no doubt about it, sir; you'd be terrifying. They'd say that you're a hobbit that should never be crossed,.
no subject
a ringbearer does not age, frodo, he simply fades. gandalf had spoken true, and frodo felt it at last, the slow, steady fade. he was glad for arwen's gift before she had left, the necklace had helped slow it, slow it hopefully enough that when he returned he could hurry to the end of the journey. he could not help worrying because he knew sam would follow him to the end, would follow his master to the fires of mt.doom without even a thank you.
he laughs a little. ]
To be honest, I do not think I would be so frightful to her. She did bring you, after all, Sam. I'm quite happy about that, if you should like to know.
[ he raises an eyebrow then, large blue eyes blinking. ]
Do I really? I don't believe anyone where I am has told me that I looked frightening! If anything I think some of them think me to be a child!
[ until they look at his eyes ]
They're all quite tall where I am right now, Sam.
no subject
Surprised but pleased.
no subject
Should I be bold enough to wonder whether it's hard to come by another Samwise? I don't think I'm surprised, if I should be completely honest.
[ People are busy, after all. Who has the time to pick up a hobbit such as Sam? ]
no subject
Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee, and he still doesn't mean to. He doesn't mean to at all.
Samwise would follow Frodo's footsteps without hesitation, even if it lead them into the fiery pits of Mt. Doom itself. He is bound to his master, and through thick and thin, he'll be by his side. It's his duty, not to mention the very thing he wants for his Mr Frodo. ]
Perhaps, but I do not doubt your intentions, master Frodo. She is quite a fan of your mun, not to mention you yourself - I believe we will all get along fantastically, should we stay together the way nature intended us to.
[ And there's nothing there to suggest that Sam himself isn't just as pleased if not more to be barely an arms reach away; he doesn't dare drop his hands, for the idea of losing his finest once again friend is almost too much to bear. There's no denying his smile, his happiness to simply be where he's always meant to be. ]
You may not be very frightening now, Mr Frodo, but I know that should you put your heart to it, you could manage anything; there's not a single doubt in my mind about that, for I know your bravery and I know your heart.
[ Ah, but the element of surprise is always a grand thing! They may think of the hobbits as children, at least until they see them properly, but they know who they are and their age isn't properly construed through their heights. ]
Where are you, Mr Frodo? Let me find you and let me never allow you to leave me again, for you're not to be without your Samwise for longer than absolutely necessary.
no subject
[ he chuckles. his sam always was fond of people getting along, being decent to one another than anything else. yet when trouble came he was the one brandishing a frying pan and becoming twice his size. ]
That very well may be the way of it, Sam. Though who knows what sort of things will be around the corner in such a place. I like to think we're more experienced than others with this sort of thing, but who can tell?
[ at that question he pauses. he is on a ship that floats in the sky, no, above the clouds. far away from anyone and everything, (though not far away enough from the ring). with all sorts of people. not all good. already he has escaped one who found the nature of his perilous burden, and it nearly cost him his life. he does not tell these things to sam just yet, though should he come he imagines he'll have to. that would be an easier thing, being able to confide in sam again. he trusted sam, even with how dark it grew around him. ]
Dear Sam, I am in a place far stranger than any we have traveled yet. It is a ship, you see, not one we would sail across Buckleberry Ferry, but an actual ship. It floats way above the clouds and the stars themselves, and we actually live in it. Many, many people, of all kinds. I'm afraid I am the only Hobbit, unless they have hidden themselves.
[ his lips twitch at something sam said long ago, and he's glad he can remember it. ]
It's very..'unnatural'.

I hope daily that she'll find herself lacking in success.
[Nope, sorry Legolas, you're how I trick people into coming.]
no subject
[ Of course! Friends are the family you choose, and who would be better friends than that of his own and his master's mun? They must be a good fit, for the Baggins' and the Gamgees' family bond goes on for generations. ]
My mun knows the place you speak of, and it sounds frightful; walls upon walls of steel, and only three rooms for planting and growing blooms and blossoms as they were always intended to be grown. How do you manage it? How do you breathe, so pent up and locked away from everything you've ever known? You tell me that I'm brave, and yet I can't imagine living in such a place, where the cruel and the good are treated much the same. They should be feared, Mr Frodo! How do they get away with it all?
[ It sounds far more mystical and draining than the adventure they've been traversing for all of this time; Samwise can't quite wrap his head around it - a ship that goes beyond the sky! Higher than the clouds, with no sail to pull it along the waves of the sea; how can it be possible? Magic is capable of so much, and yet no wizard or witch in their right mind has ever conjured up anything so wild. ]
Yes, it sounds it, sir. I don't know how you manage to cope. Tell me that there's pipe-weed at least, and ale that can only be compared to a summer's day in the cool breeze?
no subject
[ he chuckles a little though as he listens he can't help but furrow his brows. sam already sounds frightened. ]
I don't have a choice, Sam. It is where I was placed and it is..well, it is strange. I don't think hobbits are meant to be in such high places, let alone in the stars. I was more comfortable on the ground, if you'd like to know.
[ he sounds so hopeful about the pipeweed. he's been told of things called marijuana but it hardly sounds as respectable as pipeweed. he manages a small smile. ]
If I were to compare it to our brew or pipeweed I think I would be a poor hobbit, Sam.
