Especially without any weapons or my stele.

Seriously. What I wouldn't give for my stele.

We just had some kind of crazy city-wide flood with additional kraken. I mean, what the hell.

And being without a seraph blade or a stele? It made me feel damn near mundane.

[In other words, practically helpless. Which, as Alec would know, is the last thing Jace ever wants to feel.]

You fight them with a team of demigods. And stolen butcher knives you find in an abandoned apartment.

[He looks wry and for a second, almost a little self-satisfied. He still managed to kick some kraken ass, despite his obvious lack of tools - but another second later, he does get a little quiet.]

They are family. And he doesn't know, really, what he'd be like today if he didn't know the Lightwoods, if he didn't know Alec.

Anyway - if it was us against the kraken, it probably wouldn't have been a big deal. Just a slightly overlarge, fishy-smelling demon.

But I do have to admit, the demigods were pretty good.

I guess I was pretty lucky, though by that point I really just wanted to beat something up.
