returning from hiatus

My, but you come from a rather peculiar bunch, don't you? I don't think I have ever seen so many empty cans in a single children's swimming pool.

Though, a family gathering, an entire clan of sorts all reuniting together, possibly for the last time. Sharing drinks, stories, laughs, and songs ... I suppose it would be an enjoyable way to spend a week, despite some of the more insufferable moments. One can never tell when to be truly appreciative of what they have, where others may be lacking in it.

It is good to be home, however. As exciting and sinfully dreadful the days were, home is where the- ... ah, "heart" is.



You may want to check in on the other fellow, of course. I don't believe he handled the road trip all too well. In fact, there were a few times I nearly feared for my life.

Ah, I see. I am glad to see you smiling, it brings such warmth to my heart. [ He smiles in return. He can't help but appreciate every smile Loki would give him, it seems far too long since he last had them so freely. ]

[ It's almost impossible not to smile around him. The man practically radiates joy and enthusiasm that it's difficult not to get caught up in it. ]

Does it? [ ah, little awkward neckrub here. ] And here I was, fretting over the possibility you would have forgotten all about me by now.

What!? Nay! [ Genuine shock came to Thor's face and his mouth gaped with hands gestured with palms turned up. ]

Why–– why would you worry for such a thing.. no. No, it would not e'er happen.

[ Aww. Such an outburst. Loki reaches up and grasps one of those upturned hands, his grip reassuring. Hopefully. ]

It is ... difficult, I suppose, getting used to the fact that I am now significant to someone. That is all I meant by it, Thor. Nothing more.

[god_of_thunder]

Oh. Oh.

[ Thor wore a frown, but it was only for Loki's words. To have thought that Loki would need to find himself familiar with the feelings of significance and importance to another; it was a close heartbreak.

Thor sighed and pulled on the hand that held his own and embraced his brother. ]

I will not let you forget this feeling.

[ophis]

[ --unexpected. He hadn't said it for attention ... had he? Oh, bother, now he doesn't remember his reasoning for Thor-related things anymore.

But, Thor is warm, his shoulder broad enough to rest his head against. It is nice. ]

... I fear it would be impossible to, even if you suddenly vanished forever.

[god_of_thunder]

I would not vanish forever. [ Both arms were around Loki's waist and he held his brother contently to his chest. A deep inhale of his scent and with appreciation for that cooler temperature Loki's body seemed to always have had, Thor kept him perhaps longer than was invited to in this hug. ]

Nor will I allow you to vanish from me. [ ..again. ]

[ophis]

[ Probably too long, Loki would agree, but there isn't a hint of complaint in him. Rather, he finds his hands at Thor's sides, grasping the material of his clothing, maybe even his eyes are closing. He can't quite tell. But it doesn't matter, to him.

If Thor wants to keep holding him, Loki will not object. Not after a week's time without. ] You forbid it as if I had asked permission to.

[ophis]

[ Oh, he can feel it. Like a brick wall. ]

Devious revenge plans?

Ah- of course. Why, I am plotting something so dastardly and fiendish right at this very moment. Quite terrible indeed.

[ophis]

[ Subtle like a costumed mascot shrieking bloody murder at your local Wal-Mart, sure. ]

Mm. I was told you were a little more on the gullible side than most.

My friend, you have me mistaken for another. I am more of the type to banter when I am in a good mood, perhaps, but threats will not serve any purpose. She would merely toss me into the sun.

"Gullible." Adjective. Easily deceived or cheated, or too willing to believe the tales that spill from the lips of a stranger.

Take from that what you will.

[ He'd admit, it would be fun to pretend he's the villainous little brother he's heard so much about. The horns looked pretty nifty. But villainy isn't quite his tastes, no. Well ... not yet. ]

[ A small huff through curved lips. Forbid it, perhaps he will. ] Yes, well.


[ He moves from the hug, but his hands are still on his brother, it is only so that he can look to Loki's eyes. ] Just in case that was not understood.

[ophis]

[ --well. That's a little bit concerning. It isn't as if Loki did have any plans of vanishing anywhere, but surely Thor doesn't intend to have such control over his very life.

Still, he gives Thor a puzzled look, with a slight tilt of his head. ] I've no intentions to, of course. You need not be so demanding.

[god_of_thunder]

[ Thor smiles widely and a hand moves from Loki, only to pat him on the chest and he chuckles, taking a step back and returning to Loki his personal space. ]

I might let you out of the house every now and then––

[ He teases. ] So long as you promise to come home soon.

[ophis]

[ Ah- well, that sounds much better. What a silly man this is. What a silly brother he has.

He likes thinking about that. ]

So strict. I hope I do not become overly rebellious. [ He folds his hands behind his back, and takes a small step backwards, a playful smile on his lips. ]

[god_of_thunder]

There are examples I could lean to if you become too rebellious! [ He only jokes, but had Loki retained recollection of Odin, he might have ventured a guess as to what Thor meant. The God of Thunder spends no more time on that idea than needed. ]

I wonder what your rebellion would look like, however. [ Would it be the same?–– no, it could not. Loki is far too kind now.. Or so he thinks. ]

[ophis]

Oh, dear. Such a threat! [ Truthfully, he has never had a need for ... rebelling. He's been on his own far too long for that. So it does take him a moment to think of a few things on the spot like this. ]

Terrible things, I'd imagine. Temper tantrums, slamming the bedroom door shut, writing letters to my companions about how awful a guardian you are. [ Apparently his form of rebelling is strikingly similar to common teenage girls. Huh, who knew? ]

[god_of_thunder]

Write letters? [ The shock is most definitely due to Loki's idea of an outrageous and ridiculous ploy for rebellious countering. He could only imagine how hard the door might slam, and what a tantrum of temper would detail of. ]

Well, I would fret for your hand to cramp, brother. I would refrain from pushing you to such.. lengths.

[ophis]

--ah, that's right, everyone uses the technology route these days. [ Sob, even after growing old with it, time catches up with him sometimes. Honestly, what sort of tantrum involved snail mail? ]

But as long as you do. I do much prefer remaining on the good side of the mighty god of Thunder, after all.

oh god.. it's getting emotional (creepy) up in here in 3..2..

If you were e'er to write me a letter, I would prefer your literature to the cold computed words that come across these technological means of communication.

I would follow each curve of your letters till the words came clear, to be lead on by each string of your crafted sentence until the idea was understood.

A letter from you would be most treasured indeed. Tis much more personal.

I must admit ... it has been a very long time since I'd had to write a letter to anyone.

Yes! [ He exclaimed. ] You have such little amount of food, I am no ant.

[ He brought his fingers up and pinched his forefinger and thumb together. ] I need but a little more than what sits in your kitchen to sustain my own health.

[ D'oh. Of course, Thor needed real nourishment. How silly of him to forget that! ] I do apologize, the thought had never crossed my mind. You must have something proper to eat, of course!

[ The only thing that is a nuisance about obtaining groceries, food and all that fun crap is paying for it all.


Thor was no cook, not by a long shot, and his years as Donald Blake had been at the mercy of those whom took pity on him (the chefs at the restaurants he paid to eat at :'c) and the frozen dinners, bags of pre-made salads, etc. ]

In Asgard.. I had little worries about such trivial needs, for they were taken care of by servants. It has been a hardship, the transition between feasts and –– television dinners.

And also, do excuse him. He needs to laugh behind his hand for a bit, while he pictures what he must be like for someone used to godly spreads and feasts adjusting to life with pizza pockets and Hungry Man. ] You poor thing. We'll have to prepare you something glorious, to make up for what you've had to go without for so long.

[ It's okay, bro. Loki's certainly no culinary master but he knows a fair amount. Certainly better than pop tarts. ]

Come. [ Here, grasping your arm, Thor. ] Lets get your godly tummy filled up.

[ He folds his arms over his chest and eagerly takes his first step toward food.

Any time is a good time to eat. ] Excellent!

[ Thor will not mention the buffets he's not allowed back into. ]

[ And Loki smiles brightly as he guides the other to what is most likely a 24-hour shop, eager to see what delicacies Thor would be interested in. Perhaps cheesecake. He has a fondness for it himself.

Maybe at some point, his head lowers to Thor's shoulder, but shh. Shh. ]

[ A hand comes up to gently touch at Loki's back. A sentiment returned for the calm and most-welcomed touch. ]
