[Looks up at something his mun says. He looks caught off guard at first and then frowns, sighing.]

Don't. You know how much it's going to mean to me to see her there, but you also know nothing is ever that simple for us. Trouble always finds us whenever we're in the same place as each other.

[His eyes meet hers for a moment and there's no hiding the pain and sorrow in them. Yes, he knows that she's alive and well here, but that doesn't take away or heal all of the pain he felt.]

[Narrows his eyes.] I don't need you to tell me that.

[She quickly gets it. Her eyes lose focus with his and slowly drift down to watch her hands.] Right.

[Buffy isn't sure what to say. For one, it's hard to talk about with someone who will see through every joke and lighthearted attempt. Secondly, she knows just how far into the future she is for him, and that's kind of a lot of pressure. Saying anything could be too much at all. Still, she tries a little smile when she looks back up.]
