Just wanted to get a good word in for myself, here, since you've been paying me a little more attention, lately. You've got him in a few games, right? Doesn't that get to be... well, a headache? Look-- I know what you're going to say. And I get it, I do; it's hard to say no to those soulful, puppy-dog eyes. But I can handle myself, take care of things, and I guarantee I'm less of a pain in the ass. He knows it, I know it, so... there's no hurt it trying, right? Just think about it.

You... actually want to get stuck in some game? Even if it means regular rounds of fighting twenty or more people to the death just to see who's the last man standing? Or getting unwanted brain surgery?!

Better than being stuck here. [ Shrug. ]

[He shakes his head.]

Not a psycho. [ Sigh. ] I guess alter ego'd be closer to the truth.

[ He quirks a brow. ] Uh... yeah.

Cas, what's the last thing you remember?

Your brother Adam being used as bait to lure Dean out of hiding. Using him the angels will attempt to get your brother to say yes to Michael.

[Of course it's fairly obvious what's different about Sam, the leading question notwithstanding.]

Oh. [ He remembers, though... well, they're not exactly his memories. ] Right.

... You're right, though; I'm from... later.

[ ... ]

About a year and a half.

That is good news. [And he seems genuinely happy to see Sam, it's just- well, he knows time can change people, and it's especially true of such a short lived species as man-kind.]

And Dean? Is he alright?

[ Oh, Cas. If only you knew. 'Sam' just heaves a sigh. ]

Guess so. I'm sure he's thrilled, now that he's got his broken little brother back.

From the cage [Cas nods] Crowley told me as much.

I am sorry about your soul, Sam. I do not know how it could have happened, or how- [he cuts himself off, shaking his head. Crowley has given him enough food for thought on the subject of pride.] Anyway, I am pleased to see that you are doing much better than I ever would have anticipated.

I don't have a soul. [ He says it abruptly, as if the very word has offended him. ] I'm not him. I'm the piece that they tried to hide away.

[ "Doing much better." He scoffs at the idea. ]
