Avatar Korra, a young Avatar Aang... many of the renowned "heroes" of the world who used bending to get their way.

In this place, they don't possess the knowledge or the power they had in the end. Even if they find out ahead of time here, there is nothing they can do to stop me. They'll be powerless. Helpless.

Those with the power to bend the elements often use that ability to suppress others. Those who cannot bend the elements are subject to theft, violence and other crimes by those who can.

That doesn't sound good...but I don't think everyone would use bending or whatever it is, to do that kind of stuff to people who can't. Some of them could be even protecting the people who can't bend.

Thank you, but luck isn't something I need; I have the Spirits on my side who have chosen me for this task. I will remove bending of the Avatars and these false heroes and bring the equality so many people long for.

There is no need to protect others from a power if it doesn't exist. Things are simpler that way and it puts everyone on an even playing field. This is more than just a power struggle—non-benders are treated as second class citizens. They receive little to no respect because the benders of society find those without their abilities to be of little value.

That can't be true...I'm sure not all benders think like that.

Many do. In my world, there are no gangs of non-benders who abuse others. The only gangs that exist are full of benders who flaunt their power. By eliminating bending completely, the many problems my world faces are easily eliminated.

This is what a Firebender did to me when I was a boy, for no reason other than my father, a non-bender, standing up to him. I've carried this scar with me from that day on.

I'm not the only one who has been scarred by benders. There are others and it has often been more than just a physical scar.

I'm curious to know how a bloodbender can remove a person's bending. To my understanding, it was never quite explained, though I have some ideas on how it's possible. [This Amon isn't really expecting an answer to this. He's more interested in getting a rise out of the other.]

Just curious. I seriously doubted you would say. At least we share the tendency to keep our techniques a trade secret. [And using the mask as a crutch, and the changing mood in voice. This Amon can recognize that he succeeded in getting a rise out of the other, easily picking up on the anger in his voice--it's not so unlike his own when he does get incensed.]
