On finally seeing Underworld: Awakening

Yes it is rather regrettable, the direction that they chose to take. To think that she would even forget that it was not my kind that killed her family, and how her vengeance was far misdirected. Or that Michael would have likely perished in her arms the first time had I not been the one to remind her what he could become.

Ah yes, then there was that. The vampires spoke as if this is the purge by the humans is the first that has happened, when they have spent centuries attempting to purge my species from existence themselves. Then to once more mistaken our number believing us to be near extinction. What they faced at the hands of the humans is no different than what we have faced for centuries at theirs. Still though, to think that it would come to that after how long our families had managed to go unnoticed in the shadows for so long.

To then see my kind further villanized and to fall to such depths once more though, perhaps it is better to have seen my will done and nothing more. While my technique might have been rather regrettable, I meant no lasting harm to those that I sought to test, not did I seek but to continue that which had been stopped when the woman I loved and child were burned. I would have not have sought a child out to be used in such a manner, not after what happened to Sonja. Nor was I seeking a means to strengthen our species, but merely a way to end the feud that lasted far to long and seems to have truly refused to follow me even now. Perhaps now Selene will understand, having only for brief moments felt the pain of losing her lover and then child.

Perhaps the writers shall redeem themselves with the next installment, though my confidence has been lowered I must admit. After all they can't simply leave Michael to his own devices, there will be another one.
