You know what, eff you. I know you know where she is. I can hear some of yer Noise which I don't unnerstand but this ain't the time for me to think about this when she could be anywhere and he could be hurting her.

Help me find her.

— Viola?

Viola! [if she was there and could hear his noise she would feel a million questions thrown her way, a million thoughts and worries about her well being, and a longing for her presence next to him, because it's her and she's there and she's alive and she's okay.

they're okay.]

Todd!

[ What she wouldn't give right now to hear his Noise, all the millions of little thoughts and worries and questions and concerns and memories and silly things he can't hide from her. She so badly wanted all of it right now. ]

It's you. It's really you.

Viola. You're okay. You're safe? He didn't hurt you? Where are you? [she can't hear him think all this so it's just tumbling out, one question after the other, and he wants to see her so badly it feels like there's a string pulling at his hard in sharp tugs.]

[ It's the next best thing to hearing his Noise come flooding at her, so she can live with all the questions spilling out at her. It's the best comfort she can get. ]

I'm okay. And safe. And unharmed. And I think I'm in a place like you are. Just a different person.

Todd. I... you were... you are.

It was so bad, Todd. [ She's not sure she'll ever stop saying his name. ]

Can we meet? Can I see you?

I want to see you. [it's weird to have to say it, when he knows she'd just know normally. But he's relieved to hear that she's safe, although it doesn't sound like things are turning out so great.]

Viola... [once again she can't hear the confusion in his noise about what that means, about why she stumbles on him being right now.] I am. I'm here, alive. So are you. We made it again. The two of us.

I want to see you too.

Because you're here. [ And unharmed. Oh he's alive, he's living and breathing and not asleep anymore. She wants to hear his Noise so badly, like it's the last piece to fall into place and assure her he's real. ]

We always make it, don't we Todd?

I'll find you. I ain't giving up until I find you, Viola.

[he smiles a little at that, because after their race around this ruddy planet and the times he'd thought they wouldn't make it...they sure do.]

Always. 'Cuz we have each other.

Good.

I'll come find you too, Todd.

Just don't leave me alone. [ Again. Not like that. Never ever like that again. ]

[when he sees her standing there he almost feels like the wind is knocked out of him, and his noise is her name yelled, feelings and memories laced together and all the things he feels for her in bright colours.]

Viola! [he calls, running toward her, running as fast as if Aaron was still on their trail.]

[ She hears his Noise before she hears or sees him, which is how it should be. His Noise washes over her, too familiar and too comforting and oh she's missed him and his wonderful wonderful Noise. ]

Tood! [ She calls back to him, so he knows she's seen him and heard him. And she's running too, not stopping until her arms are wrapped tight around him like she might never let him go again. ]

[And then she's in his arms as they practically slam against each other, and she's in his arms tight and warm and breathing and alive, and her smell is overwhelming, the feel of her hair against his face as he presses it close making him hold on tighter. He's been so worried about her, but she's there and she's whole and she's real, and right now that's all that matters.

They're together again, and that's all that matters.] Viola. [he'll never tire of hearing her say his name, and he'll never tire of speaking hers. it's like their own secret call, their own secret code word that says all they can't quite say.]

[ It's a long while before she stops muttering his name again and again. All she can think of is him laying in the Pathway's End, curled up and healing, with his Noise so quiet he might not even be there at all. ]

I missed you, Todd. I missed you so much. [ I can't do this without you. ]

[He's doing the same, repeating her name for every "Todd" she speaks, and he doesn't move, doesn't relax his grip an inch, instead just bathing in the nearness of her and the silence of her, the one that at first had upset him so but now was a comfort he knew nowhere else. He nods when she speaks, and she can surely feel in his Noise just how much he missed her. He knows he doesn't have to say it, he knows she can see how his every action and thought was toward her, for her, to make sure they would both be safe. He knows she might not be from the same...time, whatever that is, this whole thing kind of confusing, but he's just going to let himself feel for a while.]

[ She knows they're not from the same time. Even before they met up finally and she could immerse herself in his Noise and get lost in it and see what he saw, she knew. Just from the way he spoke to her. But she doesn't have the heart to tell him what happened, why should she torture him with that knowledge when he's so whole and perfect and happy in this moment? She just wants to give him these moments, plenty of them to last him a lifetime. She now understands how important they are when she took them for granted before. ]

[Eventually his Noise softens a little, enough for him to let out a breath and pull away enough to look at her like he was looking at her for the first time. The relief in his Noise is still strong, and he thinks of the Mayor, of the things he's been doing for him and flinches because he's afraid of what she'll think or what she'll say.

What if she finds out and wants nothing to do with him anymore?]

[ She doesn't miss anything from him. Not anymore. His Noise is as easy to read as her own thoughts, and his face just as clear to her. Like how he flinches when his thoughts turn to the mayor.

She squeezes his hand at that, trying to reassure him. All that, it's past now, for her at least. ]

It's okay, Todd. I know, and it's okay. I understand.

[He swallows, hard, and then gives her hand a squeeze in return.]

He wouldn't even tell me if you were alive.

I know, but see? I'm okay, everything's okay. [ Because you're okay and alive and here. ]

Yeah. Yer okay. [he pauses, and knows she can tell before he even asks, but asks anyways —]

Think we could run?
