Bringing An Old Muse Back

You are probably going to have to rewatch my first two movies, but at least you are more caught up with the MCU than you were before. That took some hours to do, and you typically don't like to sit still for too long in front of a screen.

[Unlike her, who can analyze data for hours on a salvaged CRT monitor.]

You sure you want to do this, though? You're going to need to make sure to be organized and use your calendar app more ... But I suppose that is more than I ever did with my phone.

[Who needs a phone (let alone how to change the ringtone) when you were building gravitational devices that helped stop an alien invasion?]

And at least you know your astronomy and physics! Knowing something of the subject your muse is an expert in, or at least how to copy and paste stuff, always helps! The rest you can probably just wing.

Perhaps just reserve me and then write out the app for now ... and do some more voice testing. See if anyone wants to do some low-key threads. Couldn't hurt, especially since you have a lot of free time this summer. You can worry about managing stuff when school starts up later.

How've you been? Er, I mean, how's life been for you in the wider worlds?

[It has been a really, really long time.]

I've been alright. Life has been interesting, to say the least, in my home universe. How about you?

[Relieved, she grins.]

Definitely! You've missed a lot in Nautilus.

[And her home 'verse is about to get more exciting, too... not that Nita knows the details yet.]

Right now we're in something of a dry-hot spell, though.

I bet. How long has it been?

[Two? Three years?]

Are the weather fairies acting up again?

[At that, Nita's smile falters.]

No - most if not all of them are in Helix, now.

Haven't seen them on the Network in ages.

[The refugees from Pink's Clues are similarly scarce in Arcas.]

There were a lot of frogs in the last reality storm, too. Remind you of anyone?

People are still going there?

[She doesn't blame them, but she had hoped that things would improve in Nautilus. That the effects of Pink's Clues are still having such a huge impact is worrying.

At Nita's question, she thinks for a moment.]

I ... am not coming up with anyone. I'm probably going to smack my head when you tell me who.

[Nita nods.]

They don't talk about it in terms of visiting as an expedition - there's still lots of interpersonal drama going on.

[Even with the Skywalkers gone - who'da thunk it?]

And that's fair; neither of us were Awake when Hekket was here the first time - or for the Dark Aeon.

But the frogs are sort of his theme, out of all the Deva we've known.

[Not that Nita can say for sure that Nautilus was giving them a hint, either...]

[Jane sighs. Looks like that would never change. But, she knows that Obi-Wan and Anakin are happy, off exploring other universes and realms.]

Well, hopefully people can put that stuff aside.

I do remember the Dark Aeon and that mess.

[Nautilus seemed to like to keep them in the dark when it really would have been nice to be brought into the loop.]

How is the Doctor and everyone else? Has anyone come back?

[Nita nods, though she makes a wry face as well.]

They're- Well, we've had a bunch of people come and go from their neck of the multiverse lately.

Last I heard, though, the Tenth Doctor and Rose were set to come back from a break.

They just didn't tell anyone much of anything in advance.

With all of the people who are in their universe, and time travel in general, I'm not surprised.

[She hopes they are all doing better.]

Yeah, the Doctor seems to have a habit of that.

Yeeaah, I think his other selves are getting tired of it.

[Which is really saying something.]

Also, someone from Clef's world showed up - an enemy instead of a friend, though.

Clef really wants him locked away; he's concerned about the guy manipulating any of us with literally anything he does.

It's kind of concerning, actually.

[And if Nita's saying that about Clef, then something's wrong.]

There are likely always going to be many things that we know that our players don't.

Of course. How they bridge that gap is what is important.

Or they can handwave it.

It can get frustrating to be the smartest person in the room. You must feel that sometimes too.

Especially when you have an idea you know will work or you see something that no one else does and you still can’t convince them of it.

But I will admit I still don’t know how to change the ringtone on my phone.

[That was why she had Darcy. She was a genius in other ways.]

No? I don't have any problem with technology myself.

Then you're more well-rounded than me. If it's not something I really need, or have found useful for my work, I tend to not bother with it.

[Jane certainly is getting those warning signals, hard.]

I'm sorry you're going through all of that, Nita. Is there anything you guys can do?

So what is your expertise exactly?

Astrophysics.

You don't really need a cell phone when you're in front of a telescope most days.

[mysteryhero]

Since we may be going to the same place, you can help me identify the stars while I tell you which app does what on your phone.

That would be great! Though, I wonder if the stars would be the same. In all of the previous places I have been, I didn't recognize anything.

[But, it would give her a good reason to make a spectrometer!]

I believe it's Earth, although a different Earth to the ones I know.

[And yes, he's meant that as in multiple Earths.]

So perhaps the stars are different too.

[bifroster]

I guess we'll see if we get in.

[She notices that.]

You mean you've been to alternate universes?

Jane is a great yet underrated character.
