[ She has her own opinions about it. A pale little eight-year-old girl with almost sorrowful yet very empty black eyes. She almost looks shy with how quiet she is fiddling with a lock of her hair. ]
Pop, pop, pop. Popcorn is gross, it gets stuck in my teeth. I like circus cotton candy better and it's a pretty color. Pink.
[ Her voice is flat, empty of emotion but it belays how excited she can be at the thought. After all, she's a little girl still; what little girl doesn't love the circus? Maybe clowns. ]
Maybe if they tried harder, they wouldn't float. They don't... have to float forever.
[ She glances up, wide eyed and slight pout on her lips. ]
Don't float... I can't float.

Aw don't worry, no one's gonna shove ya in a pool or nothing. What'sa matter? Never learned how to swim?

I don't like water.
[ It's not a direct answer, however- ]
The clown said "we all float down here". It's not... water floating. Something else. Would you float?

Hmm, would I float?
[She taps her lip thoughtfully.]
Well that's a tough one. Because on the one hand I'm pretty light.
[To show this she does a graceful backflip.]
On the other hand I'm pretty bottom heavy!
[She falls on her rump comically legs splayed out in front of her.]
Floating ain't always a bad thing depending on the context though. Could be like how the stars float in the sky, or a rootbeer float. Ever had one of those?
[Harley is shooting an irritated glare at her mun for not having seen the movie yet, but spoilers are well and good as far as she's concerned. She's dated scary clowns after all.]

You're a clown. Do you know the clown? We can ask. [ As if she will admit she knows what it means by "float". Morbid curiosity and all that, she wants to see what happens. ] Ask it, it's in the sewers.
I want to see how they all float. Like the red balloons.

[ As for if she knows the clown, she has a sneaking suspicion this kid doesn't mean her ex.]
I've never met the fella myself. I've heard he has a pretty twisted sense of humor...and he hangs out in the sewer?
[She pulls a funny face, pinches her nose which makes her voice sound funnier.]
Don'tcha know what sorta stuff people put in sewers? Totally icky!
Balloons are nice though right? I'm actually looking for this new clown girl who turns into a balloon.

[ She supposes that it's odd that a clown lurks in the sewers. As for anything twisted, Samara isn't the type of child to bat an eye. ]
It lives in the sewers and has balloons.
[ She nods. As to why anything wants to live in a very stinky place and around water, she doesn't know. ]
Mommy told me about sewers. [ Oh, yes, she's funny; if she could laugh, she could. ]
They're nice... because they float. [ Not surprisingly, she can picture that very well in her mind, to the point she considers takes a small step back. This is a nice clown, she doesn't want to make her sick. A clown that's a balloon is a new one; as she tries to picture it, she tilts her head. ]
If she turns into a balloon does she pop? And float?

[ She smiles a broad sparkling smile. Harley always makes sure to brush her teeth and hopefully it helps this kid chill. She's very stiff for someone so young...meanwhile the psychologist part of Harleen's brain is trying to suss out why the kid is so quiet and emotionless. She's sure she's read studies on this sort of behavior.]
I don't think she pops but I know she floats and bounces around. That's why she does it so she can bounce.
How about you kidlet? What do you like to do? Clearly you like floating yeah? What else?

No popping. Wouldn't bouncing hurt? [ That's a shame; it would have looked interesting. Samara hasn't seen the inside of a body, only the outside of it when they become waterlogged and decayed. ]
I can't float. [ Her? The child who never sleeps? There's no way she's afraid of anything that would make her "float". She says it so matter of factly, expecting Harley to know what she means or at least hoping she'll get it. Maybe clowns know something special about floating. ]
I like drawing and playing; I'm tired of watching TV. I want to go other places... no place dark and with a bunch of horses. Playgrounds.

[ Heaven help poor Lola Pop if she ever meets Samara. Meanwhile Harleen is starting to catch up to the double meaning here.]
OK that sounds doable. I mean I'm not just a clown you know. I'm a problem solver!
I may not be able to you know...whisk you off to a far away land with playgrounds...at least not without a little mun co-operation but you know what I do have access to?
[She winks and produces a cell phone tapping on it a few times.]
Ponies~

What...where...who...
...who dares summon the Great and Powerful Trixie without prior notice? It is incredibly rude!
