On being called out to play
...like you didn't have anything else to do? Other muses to play around with in these fantasies and made up places? If you're so fond of them, why don't you go play with them and leave me to the ruling of my world. I won't be your plaything. I am the heir to the Fire Nation, damnit!
[She pauses, the grimace on her face becoming a slow, wide smirk.]
You know, mundane, now that I think about it a little more, I'm actually beginning to think this idea of your isn't such a bad one after all.
A whole new world for me to conquer, to rule?
I could get used to this.

[Here's a butterknife to cut that sarcasm with.]

To say such bold things to someone like me. You're either very brave or very stupid.
[Her lips purse in thought.]
Are you the would-be hero, then? Come to stop me in my conquest?
no subject
[Pot, kettle.]
You would do well to learn to pick your battles, girl.
no subject
[Sigh.]

[She sneers in the direction of the newcomer. What would someone like Kuvira know anyway?]
Learn to show some respect to your superiors, Earth Kingdom scum.
no subject
[She's above them, obviously.]

[She smirks, lacing her hands behind her back.]
Don't worry - I plan on educating your citizenry quite thoroughly in such matters after I've put your precious Fire Lord under the heel of my boot.

And if you think for even one second that I'll let some rock-eating twit rule over my Fire Nation, then you're sorely mistaken.
no subject
Go on, then. Show me what a child like you can do. I'll do my best not to yawn.

[Her stance shifts and her arms raise slowly. Slow circles are made as she circles her prey, and then begins to strike. Quick, easy jabs of fire at first, to test out the skills of the newcomer. Once she has a better understanding, she begins adding some spins and kicks to the mix. No need to pull out the big guns yet - this battle will be won, in time.]
no subject
"Better?" Could you be anymore vague?

-as Azula recovers from one of her spins, Kuvira strikes, bending dozens of razor-sharp metal shards off the back of her uniform towards Azula's face, limbs, and torso. Normally, she is not so quick to violence of this sort, but for this little urchin who dared stain the soil of the Earth Kingdom with her presence - she wants to see blood.]
no subject
Fine. If Kuvira's going straight for the throat, then so is she. No more playing. Azula darts in close, throwing fire in every direction Kuvira is or might be when she tries to dodge the last shot. A more physical element is coming into this fight, with punches and kicks being thrown directly at her opponent as soon as she's close enough.
That earth bending twit cut her. There is no universe in which that can go unpunished.]
no subject
How dare you insult me, you red-headed nit. I am the height of fashion in the Fire Nation. [If not, someone at home is losing their head. Probably literally.] And I don't monologue.

Azula may be a prodigy - but she is also a teenage girl. Kuvira is bigger, physically stronger, and simply heavier, and right now she's using every ounce of that weight to pin Azula underneath her. One hand takes Azula's throat in an iron grip, choking her - the other is balled up into a fist, slamming into the princess's face as hard and as fast as Kuvira can manage. She couldn't hear it even if she tried, and can't see much beyond the fury that is quickly overtaking her, but she prays for the crunch of bone, for Azula's blood to run free and fast, for this little mongrel to pay.]
no subject
...Wow.
I'm sorry.
no subject
No.
Blood may be spilling from cuts on her neck and face, and there may be large, deep colored bruises to follow this beating, but Azula is not about to give up. It's hard to focus, and it takes far too long, but slowly, she grabs the crown from her hair and slashes at Kuvira's exposed hands and face with it. And then, when she gets just enough of a reprieve from the beating to take a deep breath, she breathes fire into Kuvira's face. That ought to stop the beating long enough for her to stumble to her feet.
Her face is in absolute shambles now, but there is a deathly glare that can't be denied as she takes a stance against her opponent. Her arms draw wide, arching patterns through the air, drawing in the energy with a crackle and hiss - practiced motions that end with a bolt of lightning directed at Kuvira. There's no chance of seeing if it connects, not given the hair in her face or the blood in her eyes, but the cloud of dust that flies into the air where Kuvira was is promising.]
no subject
She'll curse herself afterwards for forgetting Azula was a lightningbender, but as the electricity courses through her body all she can do is lock her jaw, clench her fists, and ride it out, her knees buckling as the current finally abates. Blood drips off her gloves and face, staining the dust beneath her feet. It is time to face a simple truth: this has gone on longer than it has had any right to.]
Enough.
[She has run out of patience. She bends more restraints from the back of her uniform, binding Azula's arms and legs together and lifting her into the air.]
There. [A smirk plays across her bloodied lips.] Much better.
[She begins to pace around Azula, making sure to keep the bands heavily magnetized.]
So. You fancy yourself a monster, do you? Someone to carry on Father's mantle, to deal with your traitorous brother once and for all, to elevate the Fire Nation to true greatness?
[She chuckles.]
You of all people should know monsters are made, not born.
[Idly, she bends off another restraint from her back and examines it - yes, this will do quite nicely. In a flash, it's around Azula's throat - tight, but she can still breathe.]
So tell me - what made you? What have you done to earn my fear, Azula? Setting your sifu's britches on fire out of annoyance? Pedestrian. Wiled your way into overthrowing that idiot of a king, Kuei? Only because the Dai Li hadn't taken it upon themselves to do it first. You couldn't even kill the Avatar properly, or keep Mai and Ty Lee from betraying you - and I'm supposed to be scared?
[Kuvira's other hand shoots out, slowly closing into a relaxed fist. The brace around Azula's neck gets tighter and tighter.]
You're a spoiled brat, acting out in hopes of earning your father's love - but it'll never happen, will it? He conceded to you the position of Fire Lord, but he kept the true prize, the Phoenix King, for himself. And you still haven't quite shaken the way your mother favored Zuko over you. But still- [and this is with an insufferable smirk, as she keeps her eyes locked on Azula's] -you've talked to her. Despite all you've done - she loves you.
[Her fist tightens further, as does the brace.]
I have reduced cities to their bedrock. My armies stretch from horizon to horizon, full of men and women ready to fight and die in my name. Bandits beg me for clemency in a way you can only dream of. In only a week I will take the land your people stole from mine into the fold of the Earth Empire, and from there on I will march into your people's capital and erase that abomination of a palace from this world.
[Her fist tightens further still, enough for the metal to draw blood as it cuts into Azula's throat, choking the life out of her.]
You're useless. You're worthless. You're nothing. Now beg for your life, like the impotent bitch you are.
((This took me longer than I thought it would and I'm SO SORRY for that!))
And Mai and Ty Lee certainly don't have the gall to even THINK about betraying her. They would never. She is their world. Always has been, always will be.
And her father needs her. She's a thousand times better than Zuko is, or ever could be. She is the fire bending prodigy. She is the strategic genius. She is the one who has stood at her father's side through everything, stood on the side of the Fire Nation, her family, her legacy. Her father wouldn't cut her out, wouldn't leave her high and dry. He wouldn't. He wouldn't.
As for her mother... Kuvira can think whatever she wants. Azula's seen the fear, the despise in her mother's eyes. The love in that woman's heart is certainly not directed at her daughter. Not a chance.
The blood coming from the cuts on her face drips into her eyes, but she does her best to meet Kuvira's gaze. Breathing is difficult - and quickly becoming harder as the restraint around her neck gets tighter. The urge to mouth off, to tell this earth bending bitch to stick it where the sun doesn't shine is hard to resist.
But...
...there's fear in her eyes. Just a little bit. No one's ever had this kind of power over her before, and Azula hates it. Hates that she feels this powerless. Hates that someone has any kind of sway over her. Hates that as much as she's trying to fight, there is no way out of these restraints, no way to lash out, no way to stop the empress from saying those hateful, despicable lies.
She takes one last breath as she falls to her knees, glaring up at Kuvira with all the hate she can muster.]
Go to hell.
[A last gasp of blue fire escapes her mouth, a futile attempt to delay the inevitable - passing out from massive blood loss and the sheer magnitude of the beat down she's just suffered. Sorry, Kuvira, you're not getting the satisfaction of this Fire Nation princess bending her knee to you today.]
[NEVER APOLOGIZE THIS IS GREAT]
She drops her hands to her side, looking down at her defeated foe. The blood is already drying on her gloves.]
Pathetic.
[She pivots on her heel and walks off, leaving Azula to the mercy of whomever may find her.]
