Voice Test
This was inevitable. You knew the day would come when you gave me an...outlet, as you call it. Now you have a decision to make: will you play nice and send me back to Mirkwood or keep me prisoner and force me into uncomfortable situations?
(We know which one sounds more entertaining.)
So be it. Let it not be said that I did not warn you.

You're either a leader or a warrior.

[ She doesn't mince words either, really. ]
Mine's less honest nowadays.
[ She brusquely sticks her hand out to shake. ]
Furiosa.

[ That's the first time she's ever been told that, to her face. And it's actually, sobering to hear it from another warrior. ]
I have an angry story.
[ A firm shake, even though she kind of gets the idea; Tauriel isn't accustomed, or rather, she herself wasn't. ]
I'd say yours is....musical, almost. But I suppose that's not unusual.
no subject
(Her features soften. An angry past equals a sad past. She can empathize to some degree.)
I am a good listener.
(If she wants to share - no matter how awkward the handshake. They are not common amongst Elves.)
Most Elvish names are musical. It suits our language.
no subject
[ Furiosa shakes her head at that. ]
I don't doubt it. Not really that important, though.
...Elvish? Oh, right.
[ That'll explain it. ]
I've never heard of them before.
no subject
(Though none that leave any of them completely satisfied.)
You do not think you are important?
It is not common for Men to see us or interact with us. My people reside in Mirkwood.
no subject
It's a mess, either way you slice it.
[ She shrugs. ]
I think I'm just as important as the rest.
Mirkwood? Sounds green.
[ You've really, given way to her imagination. What would a place like Mirkwood, with musical language, elves look like? Now she wonders, and likes the image. ]
It must be beautiful.
no subject
(Someone or something strong enough to make a decision.)
The rest? I think you are important on your own.
(Furiosa is obviously a strong woman and Tauriel can respect that.)
It was once called Greenwood, but the Enemy has cast a sickness over it. Even so...
(There is a little, affectionate smile on her lips.)
It is beautiful.
no subject
[ It might be now; she's pondering more and more about the existence of this 'Mirkwood', and perhaps, now, to what other places like it exist as well. ]
A sickness?
[ It would hit closer to home were she alive before, to see the green place. Sadly, it was all distant and fuzzy. ]
It's...salvageable though, right?
no subject
(Big spiders and Orcs mostly. She has no trouble disposing of them unless their numbers are too great.)
It will be. We need only slay their creator.
no subject
[ There's a fierce determination that seems to be coming from somewhere, something she seems to have experienced before. ]
You'll do it. You and if there are any others like you, then them too.
no subject
Your spirit would do us good, Furiosa.
no subject
And yours, us too.
You don't want to find out what it's like, when it's gone.
no subject
Is it...gone...for you?
(Forests? Tauriel suppresses a shudder.)
no subject
[ Furiosa doesn't look the least bit less mean, but, she does stand a little softer, breathes a little easier. ]
....Yeah. All of it.
no subject
(Small gestures can change the course of one's day - or even the course of one's life.)
I'm sorry. To witness such a loss...
(She tugs off a pin and holds it out to Furiosa. It is in the shape of a green leaf.)
There is the green I am accustomed to.
no subject
I---I didn't witness it, just knew that it happened.
[ Instinctively, she wants to reach out and touch it, but compared to her arm and her opposite, dirty rough hands, it's something too pretty, too fragile; she didn't want to tarnish it. Not for lack of confidence in herself or that she was unworthy, but rather just to keep it as it is; it was something to be admired. ]
This? It's like this, where you're from?
no subject
Oh... So you have never seen a green forest?
(She keenly wishes she could take Furiosa to the Mirkwood. Even with Spiders and Orcs and Sauron's taint, it is a sight to behold.
After thinking for a few seconds, Tauriel reaches for the other woman's hands and places the pin on her palm.)
I would take you to my home if I could. Since I cannot, I would like for you to have this.
no subject
If it means I get to see something similar, I'll starve.
[ Furiosa's hesitant to let her, fear that her hands would dirty it, and fear that she might be taking away something precious to this warrior captain she'd only just met. Her prosthetic arm is retracted. ]
No, please---I couldn't.
I know you can do it, you'll save Mirkwood, but...if this is all you have of it to take with you, I couldn't.
no subject
(She frowns sadly and doesn't retract the pin.)
I carry Mirkwood with me in here. (She motions at her head.) And here. (Then her heart.) A pin does not remind me of it.
I want you to have something green in your life - and do not worry about tarnishing it. It is of Elvish make. It cannot be scratched and the colors will not dull.
no subject
But the steadfast Imperator looks shocked, frankly. That she's being given such a gift. ]
I'll see to it it's meaning isn't forgotten.
But.
[ Her metal hand comes up to yank the black scarf from her neck. She won't be pinning it, instead, she'll mimic her new comrade's actions, and place it in her hand. ]
Only if you take some of this angry woman's spirit with you.
It's not green, and sure as hell isn't shiny, but. It's me.
no subject
Tauriel looks taken aback by the return gift, but she smiles at Furiosa's reasoning. The scarf is tucked safely into a satchel under her cloak.)
Your spirit will see the forest. I will make sure of it.
oh man i'm having feelings
[ She stops, quite suddenly. ]
I'll leave this writer's head long enough to. No matter what she has me do.
Don't take it with you to show it the forest, take it with you to aid in saving yours.
:( Ahhh me too. These two <3
I will see that you are welcome.
(Her eyes sting and she bows her head.)
I shall wear it with pride as I face the Enemy.
i may actually be crying also your Tauriel is golden
Her emotion isn't wasted on her though, and she reaches out her metal arm to rest it on her shoulder in support. ]
...Still up for that angry story?
I love your Furiosa <3 We need to make our own canon
With a teary smile, she rests a hand on top of Furiosa's prosthetic hand.)
Please tell me.
THANK ;; IT WOULD BE SO COOL. esp if they were in a game together also whoops tldr
It doesn't just carry my spirit.
But that of fourteen others and myself.
[ Furiosa tries to consolidate her words, to make it as short a story as possible. ]
I was born in what we called 'The Green Place'. I don't remember it much, because I was taken, my birth mother killed, and I? Made the best of by a road gang, and then, eventually traded to a man who thought himself a god. I promised I would go back one day.
The man had five wives, and he had me protect them. They were fed, bathed, what have you, and I couldn't understand back then why they were so miserable, they had everything I didn't; it was because they weren't free.
So I took them and what that man gave me, including one of his men and one of their men, and I freed them. We faced an army on the way out.
I took them back to The Green Place.
By then? It was gone. My mothers weren't. But it didn't really matter. Most of my clan was. We packed up all fifteen of us and swore we'd take what the man had left. A great big city he starved and water and what little green there was left in the world.
All of us, were sure we were going to die. But, we were going to die together, and we were going to die angry, on the Fury Road, taking back what was rightfully ours; our lives. Naturally, we faced an army on the way back in, too.
[ She pauses. ]
I lost the rest of my mothers that day, but the five daughters, and I, were freed.
[ She couldn't bear to mention Splendid's grisly fate. But, she knew the woman was free, too, albeit in a different way. ]
Now I'm here.
[ If she had less resolve, she would tear up herself. Too bad the desert had hardened her beyond her years. She would cry later; this woman was still fighting, and she couldn't afford to see her tears. ]
And I was angry, that I'd been taken away. From my new sisters, from that desert hell, but now....now I'm not.
Totally agree and it's a lovely tl;dr so don't worry. <3
I have another name for your past: remarkable. That descriptor suits you too.
(Tears are a luxury she doesn't usually allow herself, but this touches her deeply.)
Promise me you will share your story with others? I think everyone seeks that sort of freedom. We build cages for ourselves sometimes.
(She knows that her heart is right and she needs to follow where it leads. No matter the consequences.)
You are so strong. (Her voice wavers and she steps forward, embracing Furiosa without a single hesitation.) I am your elder by far, but I have learned from you.
I must seek my freedom too.
i gotta sleep but IM TOTES HERE FOR THIS IN THE MORNING
I will.
[ The hug is a little off kilter for her, not exactly something she was expecting, but it's not unwelcome. In fact, it's warmly received, with a hand to the back of her head instead of her shoulders, a greeting of fondness she shared with few others. ]
And I you; that I can't be stubborn, not when faced with great opportunity. That's...yeah. That's a cage, if anything.
You'll get it. And if you don't, then---well. Steal it. Whatever it takes.
Rest well! :D
Maybe they can achieve their dreams.)
You will do what's right. That's your nature. (She steps back, hands resting on Furiosa's shoulders.) I will too. I won't let anyone tell me I'm wrong for listening to my heart.

It makes him happy. Bouncy happy. ]

Grrrrrreet...? Whoo...?
[ Are we doing names? Is that what woods-y lady wants? ]
Gau... is Gau?
no subject
Gau? Hello, I'm Tauriel.
(He has such bright hair! It puts her own copper tresses to shame.)
no subject
Taarrr.... [ Squint. ] yellll...?
[ Let him quietly process this— ]
Taryell! Yaooo!
[ —nailed it! :D ]
no subject
Close enough! (He is a cutie. She looks around for his...parents? Is he young enough to have them near? Or is his appearance misleading?)
Are you okay, Gau? (For his sake, she looks very concerned. That should relate the point better.)
no subject
Uwooo... Gau no bad! Good Gau!

What's holding you back? Sounds like more than just saving a forest.

I know I love someone they won't accept.
