I find it most illogical that you choose to place me in awkward and somewhat confusing circumstances regarding your leisure time. These games you speak of seem utterly irrelevant to my current status and mission. The Captain will not be pleased to hear that you'd rather use me as a pawn in one of your games, than allow me to complete my duties. Your selfishness alludes me at times.

As much as I try to please your curiosity regarding myself and my mission, I have to get back to work. By taking me away from my responsibilities you are disregarding the lives of the ship and it's crew; a highly illogical and dangerous manoeuvre. Please try to think before you act.

Given the human predilection for favoring emotional responses over rational, even their most fervent attempts at logic tend to fall short.

[ But that's what makes them so fascinating. ]

Still, it has been my experience that they are not entirely without consideration for the needs of others. These 'muns' frequently make use of a temporal phenomena known, somewhat confusingly, as hand waving. I confess that I do not completely understand this particular phenomena, but I have repeatedly observed its usage, whereby one is returned to one's own time and world at the precise moment it had been previously vacated. A truly remarkable system.

Perhaps. Yet, I will not give up logic over favouring their rash need for emotion concerning myself. I have heard of this "hand waving" and find it most fascinating indeed. Illogical but fascinating all the same.

Indeed. It seems I do not wish to attract any unwanted attention from the Federation regarding our last escapade on Talos IV. [It had nearly cost them both their commissions and their lives.]

I am assuming the Talosians are still aiding you with your illusion, so that you may exist as a fully functional human being?

[Pike gives him a look. That looks strangely like suspicion. Was he serious? He had to be, Spock was always serious. Pike was starting to wonder if this was some other illusion.]

Spock, last I knew, I still was a fully functional human being. [But you're starting to make him wonder. If his mun hasn't told him everything yet.]

May I ask what the last thing is you remember before being brought to this place, Captain?

We left Talos IV, there were orders to go....somewhere...

[He trails off, a realization growing on his face. Uh oh. He couldn't remember anything past that.] ....Spock, what's going on? I was on the bridge... [Maybe. He's not sure.]

[Spock frowned, unable to determine whether Pike knew he was in the box or not. Was this before the accident? It seemed to seem so...]

I am unable to give you an answer, as to what is going on, since I do not know myself. What I can conclude is that it may be possible that this place takes us from different times in our timelines. It seems that you are from my past and I from your future. Many things have come to pass between our two worlds since we last met on the bridge when I was your Lieutenant aboard the Enterprise.

[He can't argue with that kind of logic. Especially since it seemed Spock was a Commander now and it seemed like no time had passed for Captain Pike. Yet, he still can't ignore that gnawing feeling that he might be missing something.]

I am still serving aboard the Enterprise under Captain James T Kirk. My duties now are to the ship as chief science officer.

[Of course, the glaring question is, why isn't he still Captain? He doesn't ask it. Yet.] Good Captain, this James Kirk? Treats the crew and the ship well?

He is one of the bravest and loyal men I have met. You would get on well with him if you two ever meet. [He's got an ego and is human but that's just a weakness Spock deals with everyday. Jim is his best friend.]

[Okay, maybe he misses being Captain of the Enterprise just a bit. More than a bit. But does he really want to know what happened in between? Talos VI was hard enough to get through. He didn't want to contemplate it getting worse.]

Changing one's past could have irrevocable, potentially disastrous, consequences. But if this Spock was from a different timeline (as indeed quantum theory dictated he must be), then the benefits must be seen to far outweigh the consequences.

Indeed that is true. I have come to realise that my writer tends to favour emotional writing than writing with a logical meaning. Does yours also favour this style of writing?
