after months of waffling around... canon is the alien series.
Listen, I'm not sure what your intentions are, but if you plan on stopping me from finding answers--
[The tone starts off confused enough, swiftly flashing to anger and resolve while her eyes narrow into a steely glare. Ripley Jr means business and is an image of sheer determination. But that's not why you're here, Amanda. Answers, your mother-- you should be able to find all of that here.
It's slow, but the anger fades. Instead, it's replaced with uncertainty and wariness. She's been backstabbed and manipulated so much lately, she's... not sure if she should take that at face value.]
Nobody's been able to find my mother, but if you think you'll have better luck... Have at it.
[It's just a show, that detached answer, to protect herself. Anyone with eyes could see the look on Amanda's face: equal parts frustrated and hopeful, because in truth, she wants nothing more. After hearing that message from her mother, her heart's been in a constant state of ripping old wounds back open, throbbing and aching. It's easy to pretend like she doesn't miss her sometimes, yet that very thing is what drives her. After all of that, in spite of the terror and heart ache, it's birthed an even greater drive for knowledge. It doesn't end with Sevastopol. Whatever those creatures were, they're connected to her mother's disappearance.]
