Really? You're taking me somewhere?

Will my Mom and Dad be there? Because if not, I'm not going. We've been split up too many times already and I won't let it happen again. Not after what happened at the farm.

You better find a place with them, I'm not joking. I won't go without them.

I still don't know if they're taking any of seriously, but at least it doesn't look there's any Geeks around here.

Not here, but my mun says that they can end up anywhere if the game wants them to. And that they like doing things like that to us.

[Yup, Carl looks worried.]

[This is the face of a Glenn that has been lied to by the player. He grows a little pale, mouth gaping. Running a hand over his face, he shakes his head to calm his nerves.]

-We'll be fine. We've had worse thrown at us, you know. Besides, Rick and Lori don't let you out of their sight for too long.

[Carl may be young, but he doesn't miss that look at all, Glenn. But thankfully you're right, and Carl is one hell of a strong kid.]

We'll be okay, we have been so far, haven't we? [Carl offers a a small, unsure smile and reaches up to adjust his hat.] Even if she doesn't find a place with my parents. I said I wouldn't go, but...it'll be okay. I've learned how to protect myself alright!

[Glenn's not a good liar anyway, he knows. Doesn't stop him from trying not to raise worry.]

Yeah, well. [Reaching out, he flicks the other's hat back a little to tease. The smile on his face is small.] Safety in numbers, you know?

[Carl nods at that, his smile becomes a little more confident.] Definitely. Do you have a place you're at? With people?

Here? Nah, nothing from what I've been hearing. The mun said he wants to 'make sure he's comfortable' before anything happens.

[Scratching at the back of his neck, he can't help his smile with the look on Carl's face.] What about you? Where's this place I hear you might be going?

They wont care. Mine didn't care. I got taken to some place without my mom too. They do what they want.

[Making a face about that. Damn muns]

[Carl frowns a little because yeah. He really doesn't want that to happen to him, or anyone!]

Great. Basically there's no hope still, even though I got out of the zombie apocalypse?

[Yeah Carl sighs and moves to sit down, looking a little bit glum/]

[Ben makes a face at that. Ew. Zombies? He's not too keen on them. Movies always make them seem horrible, and he's not too fond of zombie flicks---anything else but that. Still, REALLY?]

You had to battle zombies? Really? Like in movies? [Sits near by, eying him, because this is more interesting then Dib and his lab]

My mun says to tell yours she wouldn't have been able to tell he was uncomfortable at all.

[At the mention of the game he's going to, his smile shrinks a little bit.]

I don't know a lot about it, just that it's an island. And there aren't walkers, but it's still kind of scary. And there's another...well, you there [Carl is making a face cause saying that is weird.] But not my parents.

[Carl looks slightly surprised at the question, just because it's hard to imagine another kid living in a zombie free world. Even if he knows those worlds exist thanks to his mun.]

Ah, yeah...well. Sort of. I haven't had to fight a lot of them myself, though I guess me and Dad burning down the barn with all those walkers in it might count.

[Eyes the other boy, careful. He and his DAD? Yep, already finds this kid awesome. All these older kids with dads who do stuff and all. Not that his mom wasn't awesome or anything... but still.]

Your dad and you burned down a barn of walkers? [He wants to pretend he knows what that MEANS... but... he doesn't but he also doesn't ASK]

Yeah. Our whole farm got swarmed with them and I was...

[Carl frowns even more, skipping forward in his story. He doesn't want to think about what he had to do to Shane. Or what his Dad did.]

Well I was in the fields with him when they came. So we had to hide in there. Then my Dad decided we should get as many of them as we could, so we lit it on fire.

Yeah? You think I should tell him? I don't wanna feed his ego and see where it takes me, after all.

[A sheepish smile before he shakes his head, notices the change. Ah, geeze - bad topic. Glenn taps the heel of his shoe against the ground, thinking of a way to help (even if it does sound pretty weird to hear that there's another him around).] That's better than nothing, and I bet it'll be for a little while. You'll see, we can't leave each other alone for too long.

Besides, what's wrong with having me for company?

[Carl can't help but laugh, even as he shakes his head insistently.] No, I was just thinking it was weird to say another you is all. You're a cool guy, Glenn. And yeah, you should tell him. Cause this place sucks and it would be even suckier if you had to stay only here, right?

No, I get where you're coming from. Kind of, anyway - I sort me the other me-- him.

[He makes a face as he thinks on it.] Us? Man, it's still weird! And as much I don't wanna say yes, you have a point. If I stay here too long, I'll probably go crazy.

[He blinked at the boy, interested, a little disturbed, and... and just so very interested]

So you burned the barn down with all them in it and got away? But now you're being dragged around to other places with out your dad?

Yup. Pretty much.

[Carl turns to offer him a small, sad smile. It's being without his Mom that bothers him more, honestly, but he won't say that.]

I'm Carl.

[He can relate, really. He got taken away from home before he could return to his mom. Out of a cage and into a haunted house. He gave a small sad smile back]

I'm Ben. Nice to meet cha.

Nice to meet you too.

[A sympathetic, understanding look. Also forgive the blunt question...but kids will be kids.]

Where are your parents? Gone like mine, too?

[Carl laughs again, cause hearing Glenn go in circles too is just funny. And is somehow cheering him up.]

You could always come with me, I guess my mun found another place where I'll be the only one from....well, you know. Our world.

[Well, at least that's one good thing that comes out of Glenn's confusion. It's good to hear Carl laugh anyway, so it's not that bad, so Glenn smiles.]

"Our world". Could it get any more weird? [He even adds the air quotations with his fingers.] Where's she thinking of sending you? I'll do my best to follow, promise.

[And be assured that the mun hears that.]

[Naw, it's cool. Kids will be kids. He smiled a bit more though, as he spoke of his Mom, Lisa]

Mom is waiting for me at home. She's okay, I think. She's strong, but I wanted to get back to her.

It would only get weirder if I actually did see another me in person. [A pause as Carl tries to think of how to say the name of the place.]

Um, it's called Maison Deportes. It's apparently really slow, and my mun says the people who also play there are really nice. Having you there would definitely be better than being all alone!

[No really, Carl feels cheered up already just thinking you MIGHT come too, Glenn. He may not be ultra close to you normally, but you're familiar and that's as close to comfort as he's going to get.]
