[There's a pause, and she cocks her head slightly.]

If there's one thing I have learned from my time among the humans it's that the only way through is forward. Dwelling on the past only leads to stagnation, and humans are always growing and evolving from minute to minute.

Humans are quite fascinating that way. Human evolution is almost frightening in how quickly it can break through obstacles even without assistance. But the past is a sticky thing. It's not always so easy to escape.

Team Dai Gurren is... unique in that. They fought not for the future, but for the tomorrow they wanted to make, took on impossible odds, and never backed away when one of their own was in danger... even if that meant making the very universe itself their enemy.

[While that sort of brash reckless devotion may be viewed with trepidation or disdain, it's obvious Nia loves every one of those headstrong idiots.]

They sound a bit like my son's friends. Reckless and foolish, but the sort of people this world favors when it comes to luck. They never looked at Raito as though he were strange, or unlike them, even though he has a strange ability. I'm grateful for that. He deserves that much for what we put him through.

[It's impossible to tell if she's smiling, but there's a very certain fondness to her voice as she speaks about her son and his friends.]

Yes, that is a fair assessment of Dai Gurren. There were times I honestly think telling them how hopeless a situation would be only made them more excited to prove everyone wrong. They were very accepting too, they did not care about what happened in the past, even accepting one of my father's generals into their number after the Sprial King fell. I think your son's friends and mine would get along quite well.

[She folds her hands in front of her chest when the subject of her father is touched on again. There were... so many mixed feelings there.]

My father was... a man of great power faced with a foe he could not defeat, and placed in an impossible situation for a thousand years. I... can not claim to say I knew him as I wished I could, but I do not regret being his daughter.

I'm not fond of Hidari... But he is Raito's partner, and I accept that. He's more Raito's family than I am, and for all I dislike him, he's exactly what Raito needs in this world. They are far better people than I am, and I feel under their protection the world is in good hands.

[She has no facial expression to read, but her body language becomes very awkward as she looks away.]
My former husband... was a good man, but we came upon an immense power, and it changed him. He treated Raito as a tool. He hurt me. I had no choice but to leave and try to figure out a way to save my children from him. But he turned my daughters against me and int he end there wasn't much I could do.

That is not true. Family cannot simply be replaced like that. I'm sure your son thinks very highly of you. And even if you are apart... [She places a hand over her heart.] ...you will always be together.

I... can not speak of he complexities of your situation but, power is a great burden at times. I have seen the weight of responsibility that comes with power tear apart friends, and change how people see the world. I am sorry to hear about your daughters, but do not give up hope. For any of them.

For all the horrible things my father did, for all the things he put humanity and beastmen alike through... for what he put me through... he redeemed himself when it mattered the most. Nobody is beyond redemption.

I do not deserve to be Raito's mother. I failed to protect him form his father. I abandoned all three of them. Raito... I believe still thinks enough of me to want me as his mother, and he will always be my son, but I think, for a while at least, it would be best to keep my distance. He has Hidari and even if Hidari is a moron, he's a good partner.

My former husband, I think, was too far-gone in the end. He gave in to his own madness. Saeko, my eldest, gave her life to protect Wakana, my second child, and Wakana gave hers to protect Raito. No matter what they think of me, they protected their family.

I... lost my way. I hurt many people. Killed many people. But... I've been forgiven, and that's more than I could ask for.

[Nia does smile, if sadly, looking at the ring again before speaking.]

[She takes her left hand hand from her pocket reaches out carefully and pats the girl's shoulder.]
