Dear Mundane:
I give up. Courtesy is evidently not going to work with you. I am going to lay down some firm rules, and if you value your sanity you will follow them.
First, you need to eat. Real food, not whatever that... substance is that you keep getting delivered to your dorm room. I sincerely doubt that's actual Chinese food, by the way. If the Chinese ate like that, there would be none of them left.
Second, put the pipe down. The beer too. First because both are coarse, uncultured pastimes that turn even the most intelligent of people into drooling idiots, and second because beer is vile and pipes smell horrible.
Third, stop deliberating over it and apply already. Deciding that things won't work before you even try them is what made you such an irritating defeatist. For both of our sakes, just try and if it doesn't work out you can blame me. Just. Try.
Now make yourself a cup of tea and think about what I've said.
Sincerely,
Maximilien Robespierre

Would you rather I stay here, then?

[To kill you again.]

[He's really not sure how to interpret that look on her face.]

[Her hand is on her hip. Be prepared.]

...I know.

Surely it was not for me.

[At least he has the consideration to sound remorseful about that last bit.]

[A sigh.]
No one is beyond redemption.

[Purposely looking away from her now.] I was damned the moment I was born.

[That much is said with conviction.]
I got myself killed. It was not your sin.
...it seems we will have very much to discuss.

As you say. [He doesn't sound entirely convinced of this.]

I have tried to gain absolution. To gain a resolution. It...is possible. I must believe that. For both of us.

[Because he wanted to believe that, back then. It might have kept him sane.]
I will speak to you soon, I hope.
