They all do it. The second-guessing, I mean. But from how I hear it, getting you out here like this is always the hardest part.

For them, anyway. Depending on where yours decides to shove you, it could either be like week-long shore leave on Illium or the inside of a pack of hungry varren, from here on out.

I suppose feeling nervous or unsteady about any new venture is natural -- but she's headed in the right direction so far.

[she can't help but smile a little at that] That's reassuring, Shepard. Maybe I shouldn't console her so much if my destination has anything to do with varen.

Or at least hope some of the rest are around to cover your ass. [Said affectionately rather than insultingly--no implications of inadequacy intended. She's known Liara for... what, years now, and she knows the asari can definitely hold her own.]

[no offence taken at all, of course. If anything, Liara just looks vaguely amused at the comment.] Or there's that, too.

I have a feeling things will eventually work out; when she gets an idea into her mind, she often sees it through to the end, for better or for worse. Reminds me of someone I already know.

[Okay, now she might be smiling. A little. You totally didn't see that, nope, and it's back to business. Well, business-ish.]

Well if she's anything like that friend of yours, things will work out just great. But if she's more like the one I've got, you might just end up in a shithole like I did.

[She chuckles, then shakes her head.] It's not terrible, I guess. Never a dull day though, I tell you.

[And that's the extent of any complaining she intends to do, even to someone like Liara. Someone she considers a friend.]

You'll be fine. Hell, half of the places out there are downright vacation, after what we've dealt with.

I think second-guessing is the one thing everybody here has in common. I'd rather they worried about it and put effort into making things just right, though, so I won't complain.

Just enjoy the peace while it last.

[Her smile fades into something more somber] That's true. And yet after all we've been through, I might not know what to do with peace and quiet anymore. Odd, isn't it?

With enough fretting, I suppose even mundanes can get things right. [a chuckle] I'll take it as a promising sign.

I'm not going fool myself thinking it's anything but temporary.

Another casualty of war, I guess you could say: The ability to know what to do with yourself without it.

[As for the second question, though:] She's got me stuck on an island, me and a few of the others. Half of the vets from the fight against Saren are there. Garrus, Tali, Ashley... Then there's Miranda, and Legion, the list goes for a while.

That's the upside. The downside? The island reeks of ways to make the lot of us suffer. We're keeping our heads above water--hell, we're even a few steps ahead most of the time. Doesn't mean it's easy, though.

It means they care, right? I mean, I'd rather my mundane spent half an hour on the extranet frantically studying the basics of antimatter so she can keep up with a conversation than just made it up in a minute and made us both look like idiots. [Not that half an hour on Wikipedia can make a person sound like any less of an idiot.]

Do you know where yours is going to send you? Does she even know yet?

You'd be surprised how well they can adapt once given the courage. Seeing others within the same cast also helps.

Both are from experience, but it would be wrong to think you'll be getting off without any difficulties.

Have never experienced issue with mun second guessing. Generally has habit of acting on impulse. Not a bad thing, though sometimes frustrating.

Everyone has their doubts once in a while.

Maybe they just need a pep talk.

Apparently 'difficulties' is something that can't be avoided here -- or likely with whatever else she decides to do.

But both you and I should be used to that by now, don't you agree?

There doesn't seem to be a happy in-between, does there? Of course, acting on impulse probably gets the "job" done faster, for better or for worse.

In that case maybe I should get you to talk to her. [She mirrors the expression.] You were always better at that than me, if I recall.

Only problematic in certain situations. Good for others. If not for mun's impulsiveness, wouldn't be here.

If you want me to try, I'll do it.

[That's obviously got her looking concerned, even a little distraught for her fellow teammates' sake.] If there's one person who can help guide everyone out of such a mess, then you're the one to do it, Shepard. Still, I'm... sorry to hear it. Are you all fighting a common enemy?

That's true. However, in both of our cases, there's a lot of research to do -- I think she finds that daunting. Not that I can blame her.

She may have an inkling of an idea, but that's all it is right now. Space seems appealing, ironically enough.

So are you happy with your current situation, Mordin? Happy with an impulse mun?

A pep talk from Commander Shepard herself? How can she refuse? That might just set it in stone.

Admittedly, was apprehensive at first. But also curious. Let curiosity win out, have been mostly satisfied with mun's decisions thus far.
