One place was suggested to me, but I don't know anyone there. So other than that, I'm not even sure where to start.

Well . . . I don't know where else your friends are, but I'm headed to 3step_paradise. You can change the world yourself by helping to build the city. Our police force could use some help, and there aren't many buildings . . . It's like those world-building games! There's plenty to explore outside the city, and there are gods you can trade tasks with for answered prayers.
