There's the briefest confusion next. Wait, another Nathan? Then she sighs in mild annoyance. Is she picking on me on purpose, or what?]

My own mun's being annoying me right now... For a second I thought you were someone else, but she was awfully quick to say it wasn't.

[She overheard what this Nathan has said, and thus puts in her two cents.] I sort of understand where you're coming from, feeling impatient at times with one of her friends. Her friend's been mostly busy with work and I always want to hear more from my boyfriend. We don't get to see each other as much. [There's just a little sad heart-sinking feeling in her chest right now as she talks about Gen again.]

I can't tell you if she's just picking on you. (Nathan looks at Mari with some confusion, though he does put on a charming grin, a habit he had learned to pick up when dealing with people from his childhood.) But, I honestly can admit that I don't recognize you. Unless you're someone from some time else, then I just don't know you right now. (The last part was a slight joke, a running one with himself. He is not expecting Mari to understand it.)

(Nathan frowns slightly when she tells him what is going on with her mun's friend and he adds a blunt few words.) I suppose I should have expected muns to be unreliable.

(Now that he thinks of it, he isn't quite sure where most of the people he loves or even cares some about are. He makes a note to ask his mun about that later.)
