[She doesn't get the reference--mun's been keeping her in the dark so Shepard doesn't go postal and spoil everyone in sight--but she can definitely read that tone.
She's silent for a bit, then:]
Did we do it?
[Because that's what matters, right? Even if she died, or whatever the hell else happened... I mean, they all did sign on knowing shit could go very badly for the lot of them... She's still got her priorities. For the most part.]
[She's trying to hide it, but there's enough relief in her voice to hint that she really wasn't so sure it was even possible, let alone that they'd manage it.]
That's what matters, then. Remember that, Garrus. Remember why we were fighting.
[A chuckle.]
And give me a little more credit than that. Who's to say I won't find you?
[Shepard swallows thickly as she stares back towards him, biting back the urge to run into his arms. For now.]
You're that serious about it, huh?
I'll take you up on the offer, even though I also still stand by the thought of adoption. There's ... a lot of children out there who lost their parents.
[Her eyes shift away, staring at nothing in particular.]
[He didn't just go through hell to not be able to pull you into his arms, and his grip is hard enough to make it feel like he's never letting go ever again. Only if you let him, of course.]
I'm not a good turian, remember? But don't worry...
[He bends his head down to press his forehead to yours.]
And I don't think they could handle any more Shepard's, either.
[Okay, that's it. She can't take it any longer. She's gonna close the distance between them and wrap her arms around his neck, blue eyes staring intently up into his. She didn't think she would have survived, and she's glad he did as well.]
It looks like I left a mark on you.
[Her tone drops to something softer, fingers brushing along his plating.]
[He doesn't know how, but he's not about to question it.]
Oh, I'll remember. Everyone will.
[Aaand a small laugh.]
It's the boyfriend's job to do the rescuing, last I checked. But a change in plans wouldn't be so terrible. So long as I at least meet you in the middle somewhere.
Can't exactly speak from experience yet, not until she lets me in on what the hell happened, but it's like you said: 'They killed me once and all it did was piss me off.'
[She realizes she's making promises she doesn't know if she can keep, but if determination means a damn thing, it'll happen.]
[Cue his own hands wrapping tight around your waist, his forehead coming down to press into yours. His eyes close for the briefest of moments, reliving a memory. Then they're open again and all he can do is stare right back, gaze warm and affectionate.]
You've left quite a few. Feel free to leave a few more free of charge.
[He lets out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. His fingers curl.]
I've missed you too, Shepard.
Vakarian brings all the Shepards to the yard, didn't ya know.
You don't want to know. Mine won't clue me in either, but perhaps that's for the best. All that matters is you're here, and the Reapers are dead. And it's going to stay that way, if I have anything to say about it.
apparently so. now I kind of feel bad for starting the Shepspam, lmao
[His hands wrapping around her waist are comforting and she relaxes against him, her lips curling up into a smile at the affectionate headbump. The things he does to her. Shepard's left hand ghosts across his skin, the pads on her fingers trailing over his scarring.]
I'll do more than leave marks.
[Her smile shifts into a faint smirk. That could be taken in many ways.]
[Her nose nuzzles against his before she leans in to plant a soft yet short kiss to his mouthplates.]
[Alright, looks like you need a little pick me up. That's what he's here for. Have a finger gently tugging your chin up, and a warm pair of ice blue eyes.]
And I always will. But I'll always be at your side.
[Damn this armor. He wants to be out of it right now. But the hand on his scars is enough, and he closes his eyes, pressing into the warmth. He laughs again, more real this time.]
You better.
[He returns it as best as he can, humming before he bends just enough to swipe his tongue along her neck.]
